Not much different than Reagan:

http://www.weeklystandard.com/reagan-the-environmentalist/article/733961

“A classic example of Reagan’s approach can be found in the Coastal Barrier Resources Act, which the president signed in 1982. The law established the Coastal Barrier Resources System (CBRS), a zone that today encompasses 273 million acres of land (an area larger than all but one national park in the lower 48 states) in which federal subsidies to new development—notably, subsidies for roads, housing, and flood insurance—are forbidden. Private interests may still develop the land but must do so without a penny of federal money. It is estimated the law has saved taxpayers

$1 billion since its enactment.”

For some reason Regan didn’t turn over the Nat. parks to the states. Why, I dont know. So this isn’t a simple case of Do A = Real conservative, do B = Not.

I can only assume we have a similar interview for Cruz available from this publication?

You do understand that the land the feds own goes way, way beyond the National Parks right? Why do the feds need to own and control all of that land? What is the rationale behind that?

Reagan would be tarred and feathered by Cruz supporters as a liberal with “California values”.

As you point out, Reagan had some learning to do also. Our whole culture since the beginning of the 20th century has been steeped in a mistrust of individual freedom in favor of government. Yet individual freedom as protected by the Constitution is truly what made America great.

Faith in God will bring a faith in individual freedom, whereas confidence in man and his government will bring tyranny and misery, the usual story of how man has manged thing on this earth for a few thousand years.

Obviously Ronald Reagan wasn't a real conservative.

Remember, Ronald Reagan was an actor who epitomised Hollywood values and was pro-choice before flip-flopping on the issue.
