Like sitting out an election if your man isn't nominated is a new idea? So I guess you were not one of the ones that advocated boycotting the election the last time around? A lot of people said they were going to stand on their principals then too. After the election Obama supporters were laughing about how they infiltrated conservative forums and convinced people to sit out the election. What a wonderful way you to help ensure your children and grandchildren will live in deplorable conditions in a bankrupt country.
If others follow your example it will ensure that the supreme court will have a strong liberal majority that will ensure that liberal ideals will be entombed into our system, and help the eventual Muslim majority's Sharia law is blended into the system. But it won't really matter to you because you will be long dead and forgotten. You are a genuine conservative patriot ready to let everything go to hell. Congratulations, you win the prize.
I want to apologize for my harsh response to you. I have had a difficult day today completely unrelated to anything on Free Republic and kind of took it out on you in my latest rant. I feel like we are very lucky to have been born in the United States during this time period. It is very frustrating that it seems like despite all of the advantages we have experienced compared to any other time or place that our country has been heading in the wrong direction. I hope that Ted Cruz does well in the primary; I am sure that he would be a great president.
Poll FReep: If the election were held today, who would be your first choice for President of the United States?
No offense taken; it’s a good debate. If Trump is the nominee, I will support him, because he’s the insurgency candidates’ insurgency candidate. Better still, a Trump/Cruz ticket is appealing, as it could be to a majority of Americans who are just as frustrated & angry with the Democrats and the Republicans.
BTW, I did vote for Reagan twice. Did not include him with the other Republicans who I supported and were a big disappointment. RR was important to me as a service member, as his administration brought pride and power back to the U.S. military after years of post-Vietnam decline. We knew he had our backs and wouldn’t throw us into conflict without clearly defined goals, a victory mindset, and an exit strategy. Beirut was the one exception, though Reagan learned a lesson and extricated us from a bad situation.
Thanks for your service! I thought you probably voted for Reagan... I was just trying to pull your chain. I voted for him both times also and was a very enthusiastic supporter. I have two letters from Ronald Reagan that I framed that are among my most valued possessions. I have the same disappointment with the other Republican presidents that you mentioned. Cruz would definitely have a better chance of delivering the goods than Trump, who I must admit I have my reservations about. But I do enjoy the way he has shaken up the establishment on both sides. They thought that they had everything all laid out as usual but then an uninvited guest came and stirred everything up.
Accepting contributions and donating to those people killing America are two different things.
Exactly the same thing.
“Exactly the same thing.”
We don’t even live on the same planet if you believe such illogic.
You have never accepted a campaign contribution if you don't understand it is just the other side of the desk from the guy giving it.
