Actually, Sen Grassley is pretty much respected, around these parts, as being a good guy.

He’s sided with Trump on immigration and is one of the few Senators who has supported Cruz, in the past.

What you are now seeing is the GOP Elite that despise Cruz and Trump making a choice between the two. Cruz believes in the Constitution as written, but the GOP Elite and Trump do not. They think Rubio will not win the game in the GOP primaries, thus they have now decided to to deal with the devil that will deal with them as opposed the Cruz the Constitutionalists. The GOP Elite hate and loath Trump but this is minor compared to the hatred of Ted Cruz.

Thus Trump is now their guy.
