Obama promises party faithful: 'Democrats will win'

President Barack Obama on Thursday promised his most fervent supporters on Capitol Hill the "Democrats will win in November" and said it's going to take more than "phony tough talk and bluster" to defeat Islamic militants.

Appearing before House Democrats at a retreat in Baltimore, Obama said the country is "doing a lot better" than when he took office, citing progress against Islamic State forces and curbing Iran's nuclear program - as well as lower gas prices, 18 million people gaining health insurance and 5 percent unemployment.

In a not-so-veiled shot at GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump, Obama said the U.S. won't strengthen itself "by allowing politicians to insult Muslims or pit groups of Americans against each other." ...

That's what I was going to say only you said it better.

Dems didn't want voter ID so now Iowa doesn't require an ID for the caucus but have to be registered. How does that work? Lots of new Republicans registering. The last time I went out to vote (I vote absentee), I had to show my driver's license, picture ID.

When Obama ran, for the caucus, the Dems required only an address with an associated utility bill, something like that. Don't both parties require the same?

So how can those who are GOP but not conservative not be de-facto Democrats? I’ve tracked a lot of their votes, and it’s the big votes that matter (you know, judiciary confirmation votes among the Senators, spending bill votes among the Congressmen et al), not the little ones and the show votes.

Demographic changes are not as profound as you seem to think they are. There would not be so much election fraud if that was a factor.

So how can those who are GOP but not conservative not be de-facto Democrats?

Well, because they don't vote for Democrats for leadership positions, they vote with Republicans far more than Democrats, etc. etc. etc.. Just as one example, every single Republican in both the House and Senate voted against ObamaCare. Every single one, even the non-conservatives.

A bunch of other major votes were very close to being party line, including the Porkulus bill. Again, even that majority (or close to it) that you consider "de facto" Dems all voted against that.

As for the demographic changes...hey, I'll concede your point. Your candidate really doesn't need the votes of Republican who support every candidate except yours. They're all just de facto Dems anyway, right? And somehow, on election day, this mystical, heretofore invisible army of arch-conservative voters will arise and sweep your guy into office, without any votes from all those RINO's and moderate independents.

And of course, we know this massive army of mystical conservative voters actually exists because they've been sweeping huge majorities of arch conservatives into Congress for decades now....

.......this moronic statement comes from the man who as head of the Democratic Party for 7 years plus a few miserable days has watched as 900 formerly Democratic State legislators have been thrown out of office, enough federal legislators have similarly been thrown out of office that he lost control (numerically) of Congress and if that’s not enough he and the Democratic Party have motivated millions and millions of people who never thought they needed a gun to go out and buy one.

The man is delusional and should be in a Super Max in Colorado.

Well put!

Obama has wiped out a GENERATION of Democrats! They are all tossed out of office at the state level and they’ll lack a bench for years to come.

“The true engine of economic growth will always be companies like Solyndra.”
“We are one nation. We are one people. We will rise and we will fall together. Anyone who doesn’t believe it should come here to Detroit. It’s like the commercial says: This is a city that’s been to heck and back. And while there are still a lot of challenges here, I see a city that’s coming back.”

With the way the Republicans are fracturing, they probably will. I see a lot of Cruz supporters staying home if Trump is nominated and a lot Trump supporters staying home if Cruz is nominated.
