Even our Liberal Salt Lake Tribune is making this an issue here in Utah.
BTW, I grew up in Oakland County. My family is still in Michigan.
The issue is really pretty simple.
Most cities in the USA still have lead feeder lines to the individual houses. Over the years lead oxide builds up in those lead pipes and prevents the lead from leaching into the water. In this case, when the city switched sources of water they failed to treat the water with an anti corrosive agent and the water ate away the lead oxide allowing the lead to leach into the water.
I’m just glad I have my own well with nothing but steel, copper and PVC in my plumbing.
