Who cares about NH?? NH only has 23 delegates that are proportionally awarded so even if Trump wins in a landslide, he will only leave with a few delegates (probably less than in Iowa) due to the crowded GOP candidate field.

I think I knew this but forgot - I think I am entering into the age where I am forgetting more than some people remember.

No. As I said, I smelled a rat. If I want to give Cruz a bump, I won’t send it to Romney.

I had the :) smile/joke behind my donation question.

It is very interesting that came to you via the Romney group!

Thanks for posting what you did.

I don’t put a lot of stock in New Hampshire. As you say, 23 delegates and it’s not the rural backwater it was 50 years ago. It’s now a mix of Boston ex-urbs and Sanders types.

It’s a single state, what does a win there portend? Zero. They have the tradition of going first as an Australian Ballot primary...but it is not reflective of the broader electorate, and it never was.

We’ll see how the top three out of Iowa fare there. I don’t see it as a make or break place like the mediots do.

To them, it’s the horse race. Anyone who has any experience at the track knows, it’s one thing to be leading out of the gate and into the first turn, it’s a tough slog through the back stretch and Super Tuesday is the back stretch. The following two primaries are turn three and four.

If they’re still battling it out by April, then nobody was as strong as they thought.

We’ll see.

I am much more sanguine because by the time my state has a primary at the end of April, this thing should be pretty much decided, so my preference matters little.

“You left out the three uncommitted RNC delegates. As Bush and Kasich are lost causes, those RNC delegates will, in essence, go to Rubio (the backup GOPe favorite) at the convention.”

Not exactly true. Iowa has to vote for the candidates in that proportion on the first vote. On the second vote they can vote for anyone. And since not a single delegate has been selected yet, that will be in June. There is no way to determine how they would vote on the second ballot and on.

Any Republican that does not vote for Trump is throwing their vote away

Why? Because he's more "electable?" Then why are his unfavorability ratings so much higher than everybody else? Cruz's for example are in the 30s and Trump's are in the 60s, percentage-wise.

Geez. That sounds like the printing job got farmed out to a Chinese company. Might be worth looking into. Or, somebody may have screwed up “cut and paste” using an old Romney ad as a template.

(I once helped write an owners manual for a product the mfgr. I worked for made for a company in CA. It turned out the seller in CA farmed out the printing, overseas, with some of the packaging, etc., and when the manual came back - oh my! It was hilarious!)

Trump will smash Cruz in NH and SC. Good thing, too. I’ve had several people tell me that Cruz is “creepy.” Not good for winning the general.

Just a few minutes ago I got another one. This time it is saying that generous donors will match all donations given within the next 48 hours. But again, it has the Cruz flame logo. It says it’s for Cruz for President, but that it was sent by and from Romney for President, 500 Cummings Center, Suite 4400, Beverly, MA 01915.

Are Romney and Cruz in bed together? Or is someone at Romney’s office bootlegging off of Cruz’s name and the ongoing campaign to skim off a few hundred thousand for themselves?

I still think it’s most likely that someone in the Cruz organization is using old Romney ads, in who knows what computer file format, as starting “templates”. They may well generate quite a few versions of the new Cruz ad, all saved with similar filenames, then whoever decides picks the one they like best. (It could be a group or committee doing the picking.) Then the selected version goes out for publication. But, in the rush to do this sort of stuff, an earlier version that did not have the change of address edited in, goes out. I’ve made similar mistakes myself with engineering drawings, usually eliciting a response from someone such as “What, I thought we decided that part can be 4mm thick, not 5mm thick!”

I’d also note that the address you received does not match the last address for Romney’s campaign that I was able to find online (a pretty quickie search, I’ll grant you.) So, it could be a scam, but the scammee would have to be pretty dense to send a donation intended for Cruz to Romney. Still, a lot of older folks are susceptible to what seem like scams no one would fall for (like voter “violation” cards?)

You know, if you and others alienate everyone (Carson fans, Palin fans, etc.) but die hard Cruz supporters, your man is going to have a tough row to hoe.

Try THAT reality check.

(The same can be said for certain Trump fans.)

In some ways, it presently appears to me that my top 2 guys, Trump or Cruz, are trying to throw it away, so, while Carson is certainly a long shot, he’s not “out” yet.

Moreover, Carson may be maneuvering for a shot at VP.

Either that, or they are just so blind in their enthusiasm for “their guy” that they cannot see the damage they do.

People cannot leave Iowa with no money in the bank.

That's an interesting comment, considering who could come up with the most money if they decided to.

I think it is a bit of both.
I wish they would knock it off, but alas they will not.
So I just hope we do not destroy each other and let in the establishment.
