Marco Rubio finished third — and acted as though he’d carried the day. The mysterious “they†who so often act as disdainful naysayers to young idealists everywhere had told him such a showing in Iowa was impossible because he offered too much hope, Rubio said — before racing for the rhetorical refuge of his hysterically overwrought stump speech portraying the 2016 election as a make-or-break moment between national greatness and national decline.
So what, two old, bitter, politically confused white people virtually tied for the Democrat nomination.

1. Iowa is crucial
2. Iowa is irrelevant
3. Cruz smashed the opposition and he's on his way to triumph
4. Cruz underperformed among evangelicals and Iowa is his last hurrah
5. Trump hung tough and will slaughter his opposition in NH on his way to victory
6. Trump is toast. He wimped out of the debate and lost momentum. He's never experienced losing before and his campaign is going off the rails
7. This proves that Cruz is the GOPe candidate
8. This proves that Trump is the GOPe candidate
9. The GOPe is gathering around Rubio. He will be unstoppable after South Carolina
Basically the takeaway is a Rorschach test. It says more about the person's presuppositions and predispositions than about what will actually happen in the months to come.
The Lesser Cuban’s gorilla-like chest beating is the only mitigation of Cruz’s Cassius Clay-like “I’m the greatest!” late night nonsense.
