Following attacks from primary rival Jeb Bush about his past use of eminent domain, Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump on Sunday accused the Bush family of using the practice to build a baseball stadium in Texas.
"Eminent domain is a very important thing," Trump said on ABC's "This Week." "Jeb Bush doesn't understand what it means, and if you look into the Bush family - I found this five minutes ago - they used eminent domain for the stadium in Texas, where they own, I guess, a piece of the Texas Rangers."
When host George Stephanopoulos said that was Jeb's brother, former President George W. Bush, Trump said his point still stands.
"That doesn't matter," he said. "It was the Bush family. They used private eminent domain. He didn't tell anybody this. So, I mean, he should have told people."
"Maybe - he probably doesn't know because I don't think he even knows what eminent domain is," he added.

GWB and therefore his estate profited handily from actions by the State of Texas (eminent domain authority) and the city of Arlington (sales tax increase).
The stadium that benefitted the team he part-owned was not financed by accident.
DailyKos? Might want to look for a better source than that.
Very interesting...unfortunately it appears few people care about the actual factual information.
Actually I don’t think Trump ever used eminent domain and succeeded. I know for a fact though he did pay off a womans entire mortgage when she was about to get evicted. How evil of him.

I’m not arguing that the team and its owners benefited. And I am opposed to public financing of stadia and arenas anyway. But there is still a vast difference between eminent domain for a project owned by the state or city and using eminent domain to give land to a private owner.
Jeb just is weak, clueless, really should just move to Kennebunkport and retire.
. . . which is why Coking won. Once Kelo set a new precedent, Trump stated publicly stated that he was 100% in agreement with Kelo

The actual operation of eminent domain is a 10th amendment issue. The Supreme Court wants the local and state governments to define public purpose.
I don’t see that as a problem.
If you’re opposed to public financing of stadia by increasing sales tax and imposing eminent domain for the benefit of private syndicates, then we are in agreement.
Let the Texas Rangers buy the land, and build and finance the stadium that they need for profit on their own, without the use of government power to launder their methods acquisition.
If you’re not opposed, then we disagree.

You are welcome to your own opinion, but not your own set of facts.
We are in agreement. Publicly financed and owned stadia and arenas never provide the benefit to the community that is claimed - it benefits the teams and their owners.
