At least with the Communist Chinese, they admit they're Socialists, proudly profess it, unlike us who toy around the edges with the idea and are actually headed there, even beyond them (we passed up France). All I ask now is for the best product made at the least price tendered, period. Then I win, they (take your pick of who) lose.

My first three cars: GM, Ford, then GM.

There was some element of patriotism, being a good neighbor. Then they got quotas to limit the freedom of Americans to buy as they please. That wasn’t patriotic, neighborly, or respectful. Now government motors simply uses taxation to reach into my back pocket. I blame the unions primarily, though government regulation and taxation also figure in.

If you want to buy American and get a value, buy from any of the many companies building in right-to-work states.
