Depends. My dad was a veteran of both world wars, and he never swore or used any racial epithets.

He drank, smoked, and got married a lot (for the time), but he would never, ever swear.

(I might swear like a sailor but I don't drink or smoke, and have been married to one woman for over 30 years. Pick your own poison.)

Wish you guys would slow down a bit on the blanket-'profiling' of 'easterners - least wise up here in Maine.

My family's been here just 4 yrs short of 400 years. I grew up on a farm with my Grampa - a 6'4" Maine guide - Same for Uncles, cousins - Guides, Wardens, woodsmen, hunters, fishermen, School superintendent teachers, military -

Never heard one of 'em use foul language - least wise around us womenfolk - nor in public or mixed company. It's crude.

I raised my 4 sons and daughter with the principal that people who use foul language do so because they don't have the intellect - or respect - to use proper words.

As to us 'easterners' up here in Maine - we've been heavily overrun by liberal flatlanders from Mass. and NY.
