Money is better leverage than even military power.

Mexico has been screwing us for quite a while. It’s time to return their favors.

As someone here pointed out mere moments ago.. Trump just won New Hampshire, and got Fox News etc to pay for his campaign.

Western Union? So then they'll just switch to PayPal.

directing law enforcement to direct resources and vigorous attention to impound all remittance payments derived from illegal wages.

And how exactly would the source of the money be detected at the point of transfer? Silly, utterly clickbaity article.

The threat of dumping somewhere between 11 million and more likely 40 million illegals back to Mexico is enough for Mexico to agree to pay for the fence. Their economy could not take that many being repatriated back to Mexico.

1) How are you going to track electronic transactions? Alberto Paypals a gift to a service in Canada, with routing information to a relative in Mexico. I guarantee you such services will spring up overnight, they can take a small processing fee for the transaction. Are we going to monitor all PayPal transactions?

2) You really think The Donald has the political stamina to deport tens of millions of people? I don’t, not for a second.

Do those things and illegal aliens will deport themselves and pay for the trip. Motivation is a powerful force.

Anyone living in an area where these people are working can go their local grocery on pay day
and go to the counter where these type transactions are done and look at the many there with
their paychecks. Usually it is mid afternoons onward on Thursday or Friday.

The dollar amount amazes me but it’s an ongoing event each week.

It was my understanding that the remittances would be permitted to go through minus a “fee” collected by the transmitting agency. Those are the funds that would pay for the wall. I could be wrong, but I think I read that somewhere.

Carlos Slim owns the telecommunications monopoly for Mexico and he charges very high fees for calls coming in from the U.S., making him one of, if not the richest man in the world.

Trump isn’t considering doing anything to illegal and legal immigrants that Mexican citizens aren’t already doing to them.

Making a deal with Mexico to not do that if they agree to certain terms and conditions (such as working on wall construction) carries with it an admission that we’re not going to enforce the law or pay attention to illegals currently in the country
Whose wet dream is that? I've never heard anyone say anything serious about using Mexican labor.

The US unions would never stand for it anyway.

Mexicans are hard workers but their overall craftsmanship leaves a lot to be desired.

There are endless of ways for Mexico to pay for it and really never know they are paying for it and probably not all at once. At least until they look at their balance of trade after the first year of a Trump presidency. The Donald will probably have someone on his staff adding and subtracting entries in a secret spreadsheet until they get to the magic $8 billion. Then He’ll have a press conference holding up the chart.

“Remittances sent home by Mexicans working outside the country...”

Could be their welfare checks, etc, also. They are a huge drain on taxpayers.

Trump knows leverage. A 10% surcharge, made payable to “The Wall” fund ought to do the trick. Now they may want to send cash via post, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

Lots of mail gets lost ya know.

95 percent of that money is untaxed income from people working here illegally. I think that ought to cover the wall that will keep them in Mexico when we send them back.
