Donald Trump Criticizes Pope Francis as ‘Very Political’ for Mexico Trip
NY Times ^ | Feb 11 2016 | Alan Rappeport

Donald J. Trump has a message for Pope Francis ahead of the pope’s trip to pray with migrants along the Mexican border: You don’t get it.

The pope is planning to go to the Rio Grande next week while on a visit to Mexico. He plans to offer prayer and show solidarity with suffering refugees.

Mr. Trump does not approve. In an interview with the Fox Business Network on Thursday, the Republican presidential candidate, who has proposed building a wall along the United States’s southern border, suggested that Francis was serving as a pawn of the Mexican government.

“I think that the pope is a very political person,” Mr. Trump said.

Well, he’s absolutely right, and this isn’t the first time THIS Pope has done so.

If the Pope was a U.S. Citizen, nheck even if he wasn’t in today’s America, he would Vote for Bernie Sanders, no doubt in my mind.

I say this as a non practicing Catholic.
The Church I grew up in does not exist anymore.

The current Pope has earned none of my respect.

If anyone’s still looking for a reason to like Trump, here’s one.

I don’t usually buy into trashing the leader of a large denomination, but this Pope is way out there.

Trump is exactly right here.

The Pope acts according to someone heavily steeped in Liberation Theology. He tends to “render unto Ceaser” more than his due.

Agreed. Catholics have as much reason as anyone else to be angry with this pope, and many are.

Yup, for all of his flaws, Trump in office would be a wrecking ball to the global PC narrative. For those of you who really, really don’t like Trump, have you heard ANY other politician call out the Pope (and he sorely needs calling out)? Imagine the people, things and ideas Trump would take a verbal baseball bat to while he’s in the White House. That alone is worth the price of admission.

History cannot be ignored.... Check out the website of Catholic Bishops... they have a very long history of demanding Congress erase our border...

And we can thank the very Catholic, now dead lion of the Senate, Teddy Kennedy for encouragement of the invading hordes... Oh and Obamacare is really Kennedy care.

They say apples do not fall far from the tree.... Oh, recent history the very Catholic, Nancy Pewlouise, working for sainthood Boehner, and the I run marathons in quick time Ryan, have done not one thing ‘conservative’. They would erase our borders in a heartbeat.

I was raised not to be a big fan of the Catholic Church.

I realize people grew up in it and can be great people so I don’t go negative unless it’s something like this.

Your take is my impression also.

Trump suggested that Francis was serving as a pawn of the Mexican government? What a hoot. Will Univision be covering the Pope’s appearance?

Is it any surprise that the pope wants to flood America with illegals who, by the way, just happen to be Catholic?

I have lived near 40 years with ‘Catholic’ in-laws... They love obama, and one hopes Obama will finally get around to stripping the wealthy of their money. Oh, some of them routinely trip out to WDC and join the ‘Life March’. But strangely NO pressure was brought to bear/bare on the past 3 sitting Speakers of the House to pull the plug on taxpayers funding Planned Parenthood... I won't be deceived by them any longer.

They are entitled to be loyal to Rome, but they are not entitled to force me to be subjected to fund their religion, and stay quiet about it.

Are the woods on the U.S.-Mexico border?

Cancel that question if pope-baby included explicit instructions that one should obey the laws of the nation one is either in, or hoping to enter (while he commiserated with Mexicans over the sad state of affairs in the nation of Mexico that leads many of them to want to LEAVE.)

John Paul’s first foreign trip trip was to Mexico; he ended up going there five times. I don’t know what’s so shocking about a Latin American pope visiting a Latin American country with 100,000,000 Catholics.
