Sometimes I have wondered whether the argument over the WMDs was whether they were nuclear or not.
You are probably correct.
The Left, i.e., the Press, Academe, The Chattering Class, The Protesting Class, all just LOVE inexact, strongly emotional terminology. "Weapons ( "Oooo, EVIL military term!" ) of Mass ("We're ALL going to DIE!") Destruction!!!!!"
"Sexual Assault!" In some utterances by the Left, that can mean anything that passes between a male and a female that is less than Rape and more that "Hello, Miss." On campus today, "Hello, Miss" has been defined as 'Micro-aggression', so they'll nail you for that, also.
Wikipedia (yeah, I know) says "A weapon of mass destruction (WMD or WoMD) is a nuclear, radiological, chemical, biological or other weapon that can kill and bring significant harm to a large number of humans or cause great damage to human-made structures (e.g. buildings), natural structures (e.g. mountains), or the biosphere. The scope and application of the term has evolved and been disputed, often signifying more politically than technically."
[End of Wiki]
"Raise your hands and step away from that WMD!"
"What WMD?"
"That can of hairspray - it contains CFCs that will cause great harm to the Biosphere! (Peace be upon Gaia)"
