Trump: If GOP Doesn’t Admit Iraq War Was a Mistake, We’re Not Going to Win the General Election
Breitbart ^ | 02/14/16 | Pam Key

Posted on 02/15/2016 12:28:07 AM PST by Enlightened1

Sunday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump warned if the Republican Party isn’t willing to admit the 2003 invasion of Iraq was a mistake, then the party will be defeated in the upcoming general election.

Trump said, “The Iraq war was a disaster. It was a mistake. We spent $2 trillion, thousands of lives, thousands of lives, wounded warriors who we love all over the place. What do we have? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Iran is taking over Iraq as sure as you’re sitting there. And that’s the way it is. We get nothing. They get the oil, they get everything. We get nothing. So it was a huge mistake. Whether people like it or not. and I’m the only one with the vision to have said don’t do it. And I wasn’t even a politician when I said that.”

He added, “Something’s going to have to happen with the party or we’re going to lose yet another election. I’m not even doing it to win election, I’m doing it out of common sense. The war was a horrible thing. If we’re not going to admit that, you’re going to have yet another election where the Democrats are going to win.”

Somebody had to say it.

There are a lot of Republican voters who feel Iraq was a mistake but the party Establishment orthodoxy tells us it's politically incorrect to say this.

And we all know how Trump feels about political correctness.

Trump ought to be telling people why the Iraq war turned into a disaster.

If you scroll down through the comments in the article you can see where Ivanka chimed in. It’s says on the web site the account war verified it was her.

Do you mean the comments section? It is not Ivanka. Anybody can put “verified” on their Disquis profile. I think only Twitter actually verifies people.

Trump doesn’t do “hows” and “whys.” He does accusations and assertions. He was funding the Democrats when they were saying there was WMD in Iraq and when they voted for the war. Now, he’d have us believe he was prescient on this issue. He was full blown Code Pink in a tutu. Well, it’s just one more example of what a fraud he is.

Trump has said it. Saddam was a horrible dictator but we had stability. There was a balance of power with Iran.

Now we have total chaos.

Trump is inoculating himself for the general election from George W’s failures. We’ve lost the last two elections because of W. Let’s not lose a third.

When the war first started, I was for it.

I thought we were doing the right thing.

But now seeing what that course of action started us on, and how we went on to oh we should take out this one and this one and now the middle east is basically moving in on the west, and we are somehow allied with and arming the worst people on this planet, it was a HUGE mistake! I wish we had never done it.

I don’t know if anyone was lying or if there were other aims and goals in this that the public is not aware of, but the whole damn think stinks.

I really don’t trust my government at all or anyone in it.

That’s where I’m at.

The Iraq war was a mistake. Look at ISIS. If Bush wanted that war to succeed, he should have split the country into 4 parts and setup a dictatorship, as that’s the only type of government those people can understand.

He has.

Because America doesn’t know how to win anymore.

It’s seems like all America knows how to do anymore is lie.

Iraq wasn’t a mistake. But perhaps Trump recognized the fallacy of the back-stabbing Democrats that initially supported the effort.

I take it you’re on the NeoCon’s side, like Shapiro, who thinks the United States should conquer the entire middle east. Too bad the NeoCons don’t even know how to conquer a country properly, yet want to play war games.

You don’t setup a democracy for a people who have long lived under slavery. It is not possible.

>> The Iraq war was a mistake

Nonsense. The unwillingness to follow through on commitment was the mistake.

>> Look at ISIS

Please. That’s the outcome of Obama’s negligence.
