This appears to be the source of the dust up over the latest Trump-Cruz dust up. Looking at the statement, one could characterize Coburn's saying the Ted Cruz promises more than he can deliver. Now is that calling Ted "the most dishonest person", well obviously not, but it is calling Ted Cruz a "dishonest person". So I think Donald Trump should issue an apology saying the Tom Coburn only call Ted a dishonest person, he didn't call him the most dishonest person.

So Trump is guilty of paraphrasing?

Frankly that’s a reason to vote for Cruz. He said what he would try to do and he did it. He did it. The fault lies with those who didn’t.

It would be like blaming Scalia for not being able to accomplish wins on the court when he was often author of the dissenting view. He didn’t select the other Justices. Cruz didn’t select the other Senators. Cruz promised to do something and he went to Washington to try and do it. He informed the voters who sent him there exactly why it was not accomplished and he named names. GOOD FOR HIM. THAT IS EXACTLY THE SORT OF PERSON I WANT TO VOTE FOR!!!!!!!

Here is what Senator Coburn just said about Trump’s made up quote. “It’s an absolute fabrication. I’ve never said that, period,” Coburn told the Washington Examiner Tuesday afternoon. “It’s unfortunate he would use my name to say something dishonest.”

Well, there is a video of Coburn from 2013 on Morning Joe where he called Cruz a liar.

When our elected only listen to those that give large amounts of money to their campaign funds and ignore the common voters can we truly claim to have a representative government instead of a defacto oligarchy?

Apology?

Sen. Coburn: Cruz’s Ploy Was Dishonest

http://www.msnbc.com/morning-joe/sen-coburn-cruzs-ploy-was-dishonest

I don’t fully understand what the hell Coburn is talking about but he did say that Cruz is dishonest.

Trump should run ads about this in all 50 states.

.
Spineless Coburn wishes to tell us that his compromises did anything but harm to the American people?

Every compromise gave the socialists half of what they demanded. Not one of those compromises gave us anything ever.

The voters all voted for the uncompromising stands like Cruz delivered, but got only wimpering excuses from the trash they elected.

So I guess this makes up for Trump lying...

Knew that some Trumpmsupporter would try to explain this lie away, even after Tom Coburn said that HE DID.

I’ll admit, Trump screwed up and jumped the gun and misattributed the quote.

If Ted Cruz wasn’t a fountain of lies people probably wouldn’t be so easily confused about who he was lying to and when.

While certainly Obamacare is a big issue, it isn’t the top issues of the 2016 election.

The top right now and will continue to be:
The economy and jobs 27%
... this is followed by dissatisfaction with government and politicians, then terrorism and “immigration”.

Healthcare/Obamacare is now down to 4%.

The go to guy in the eyes of most of the Republican base is, and will continue to be, Trump on the economy as the Number One Issue at this time. I doubt that is going to change. Trump also was the center stage guy and the thunder train of the campaign regarding illegal immigration (which is precisely why he has been so severely attacked by the GOPe), and he has been outspoken about ISIS, terrorism and in support of our vets.

Let us see what happens in S.C.. If Trump wins, my prediction is it is over. The majority of the base feels Trump is going to be a tough guy as far as moving forward on these 3 issues of concern for America. He will no hesitate to use tough guy tactics with the Dems and the GOPe and that is why both want to do anything and everything to stop his nomination.

By the way - where does it say in the Constitution that there are 9 justices on the Supreme Court?

It doesn’t.

Congress decides. There were 5 in 1801. There were 10 in 1863.

There should be 11 under the Trump administration IMO, Trump should work with Congress to increase the number to two more and put in place those that reflect the constitution, and who understand that the Constitution of the United States is for OUR NATION, a Nationalist agenda, not a GLOBAL statement of rights or privileges to anyone who just wanders over the border(s).

what’s the heck is the “retired” gope coburn doing in all this?

didn’t he quit because he was sick of politics in d.c? these guys just keep coming back up and coming back up like bad pennies.

a little history on coburn off the the top of my head:

he was a self appointed pork barrel watch dog in d.c., but he never got any budget reform passed that i could see. never got earmarks stopped until the tea party forced that to happen. the money just kept going out in bigger and bigger chunks. now there’s no budget at all anymore. just rubber stamped crs from the gopes in congress.

then he hung around long enough to inject himself into a campaign for one of his long time gope buddies and to hamstring a great young tea party conservative in ok’s last election.

then a few years ago he made a big public show of his great “stand” for small farmers and ranchers against the disasterous SB510, the massive fda food safety act, (really the food tyranny act). but then, inexplicably he allowed it to pass unanimously in a voice vote in the middle of the night.

i’d suspect that coburn is nothing but a gope snake looking to damage both trump and cruz.

“And so what happens is, there becomes less confidence in the Congress and its ability to do its job.”

Sad, that. Cruz pulled the covers off the cesspool in Washington for all to see.

The problem is that all the tweets have been removed about this and supposedly this was made up by a liberal blogger who took a partial sentence than made a tweet out of it and Drumph used it. Tom Coburn denies he ever said any such thing. The problem is Drumph is still using it on his campaign stops.. Coburn is really mad and said it takes a lot of nerve to call someone a liar when they’re a bigger liar than anybody!!! Meaning Drumph is a giant liar!!!

Actually, the following is the source of the dustup. Dan Scavino of the campaign saw this tweet and thought the quote was from Coburn, which it was not. It was from the writer of the article, who later quoted Coburn's other quote, the more reasonable one in the body of his article.

Scavino later removed his original tweet and replaced it with the story regarding Coburn's actual quote. Trump was on the road and in meetings all day in SC, and may not have heard about the mistake or misquote. Though I have no way of being certain about that.

I agree Trump should apologize, if for no other reason than the contrast he will provide with Ted the Face of God.

There were a host of shiny faces sent to Washington DC on promises of shutting down Obamacare, reining in spending, putting the brakes on the unConstitutional acts of Federal Agencies, etc.

A very few lasted past the tour of their new offices, and Cruz was one of those who did, and who at least attempted to do the things he promised.

That the rest held their constituents in contempt and forgot the promises they made on the stump isn't Cruz' fault.

That they resent Cruz for being a conspicuous reminder of their failure to honor their promises is no surprise, and that dislike should be worn as a badge of honor.

If you want Miss Popularity, check out the pageants--this is politics.

Leader or not, it is difficult to buck the culture of corruption and the insidious malady of 'Beltway Fever'.

If there is disappointment in the hinterlands the only people who should direct that at Cruz are his constituents, should they feel that appropriate.

Everyone else voted for the Senators and Representatives of their choice, and should direct that enmity toward those they voted for who reneged on their promises instead of one they couldn't vote for who didn't.
