I’ll be voting for Brannon in the Primary.

I am new here on freerepublic and I think this is a very bad sign. Why are republican senators giving mixed signals? I don’t understand any of this now.

And people do not understand Trump's popularity.

If you read all of what Senator Tillis said, he’s not inviting a liberal nominee and said he would oppose such a nominee. I think what he a couple others are saying is that if they LOOK like they’re accommodating Obama but then just drag it out or not hold votes, that’s a better strategy. I think some of them might prefer that strategy to just saying that they won’t even consider anyone Obama nominates. I for one believe that they should absolutely obstruct as so much is at stake, but it’s important to carefully read what they’re saying.

If you look at Senator McConnell’s Twitter page, he doesn’t appear to be backing down and in fact tweeted Chuck Schumer’s hypocrisy from what he said in 2007.

We don't have to be cast in the position of being "obstructionist." All conservatives in the Senate have to do is to perform it's Constitutional job insofar as appointing a SCOTUS Judge is concerned: "advice and consent." Fine. Do that job and advise the President with a list of acceptable candidates for the nominee.

I'd start with Janice Rogers Brown and Miguel Estrada. Both are esteemed jurists Harry Reid held up in the Senate (makes a nice reminder). Both are minorities. Let Commander Xero and Happless Harry bitch about that.

FWIW, just called my Senators Offices and said NO to an Obama Supreme Court nominee. I guess it doesn’t hurt if they have a Big Volume of callers. A FReep surge?

Most of the electorate don’t even know what the Supreme court is. This is not a big election year issue with the so called moderates who vote so the Republicans can stonewall this until next year. Bottom line is Obama has no card to play here, other than nominating someone. We have the Senate so we can delay and delay all year.

It had better be obstructionist. The entire Constitution was BUILT to obstruct the sort of damage government has done today.

Today, that constitution is at risk, and their jobs depend upon them obstructing the greatest threat to freedom we face in our modern era.
