Well, someone needs to pass legislation to close this 'evidence room loophole'. But, how come there's any handguns in d.c. in the first place.

If they are there, they are there illegally. That's a start. /S

What would DC do to you if your handgun was stolen and turned up at a murder scene? Will they do the same to themselves?

Triggered by their predicament, and fearing for their safety, they took stock of things and barreled it on out of there at a pretty good clip, almost like a bullet.

In the late 1970s I worked with a guy that had probably 1000 guns from the Houston police dept property room.

One of the guns he had was the 1927 Thompson a guy I went to HS with used to shoot up a chicken farm and kill hundreds of chickens just for kicks.

When guns are outlawed they will just walk themselves out of the evidence room!

Remember the movie “The French Connection” about a huge heroin bust. Well something like 55-lbs of that bust disappeared from the evidence locker in New York Police Headquarters in the 1970’s. So nothing new.

Police and politicians tend to enter their careers full of the aspiration to help their communities. Unfortunately, both careers eventually expose them to many opportunities to bend the rules, to go along to get along, and to pick up "a little extra on the side" by misusing their authority.

Eventually, they come to accept corruption as a way of life. Stuff goes missing from evidence lockers all the time, and the evidence lockers are completely under control of the cops. This story isn't all that surprising. We need to keep a close eye out on all these "public servants", who seem to have more money than those they serve.

The only solution is to pass laws confiscating guns from law abiding citizens.

That will solve the problem.

Do I even need a sarc tag?

Oh, there are always some people who think they can just ignore the law.
