Amazon forces us to buy more and more elsewhere.
I fought off Prime for a year or two, then went with it and write it off as a business expense.
I enjoy the free streaming.
IF they offered a monthly Prime membership, I’d be all over it.
$99 a year upfront is too rich for me.
Quite frankly I dont know how they did it so cheap for years.
love me some Amazon
$49 will certainly slow down my buying from Amazon.
As much as I hate to admit it, Amazon Prime has been wonderful for mrs p6 and me. Her new Kentucky Derby hat comes today. We didn’t have to drive all over God’s creation to get it.
Bezos I don’t like your politics but ya done pretty good.
Brick and mortar still is best BTW buy I do find a great selection on Amazon and I dob’t have to drive miles.
Local jobs lost? Probably but UPS, FedEx, USPS and others help offset that.
I used to buy a lot of stuff from amazon for the free shipping. Since they raised the total required for free shipping and started charging me state sales tax, I use walmart and get free shipping to store for pickup.
I’m a Prime member and I like it. I use it to pounce on good deals. I shop for what I want and put it in my cart or on hold. I wait for the price to go way down and pounce when the discount is 50% or more. The only down side is some things may take months (or years) to go on sale.
If I really want it, I’ll put it on a Christmas list in hopes someone else will pay for it. Yes I’m cheap (frugal). I do watch old TV shows and movies too. It’s good quality streaming.
The Chinese junk is still Free shipping
If you do any amount of shopping on Amazon, Prime is the way to go. It really pays for itself multiple times throughout the year and includes Sunday delivery. Prime also gives u free streaming of their video service similar to Netflix. I have both but since Netflix is $7.99/mo if one went with Prime, just the streaming pays for itself in a year. I really have no issue with Amazon “forcing” people to Prime. It’s a great deal and you still have the freedom to choose whether or not to purchase it or whether or not to pay as you go. It’s capitalism at its finest.
I just jumped onto Prime and ordered a chicken and an egg. I’ll keep everyone updated.
I used to be a Prime member but cancelled a few years ago. For some reason starting this past Dec they charged me FIVE TIMES for Prime membership I didn’t order. Each time I called to cancel they would charge it again. Once they charged it again the very next day!
I have Prime and like it a lot. I am surprised how much I use their free shipping. I have had 3 package show up on Sundays of all days.
I like the streaming service and their original shows are getting better. I enjoyed The Man In The High Castle.
Last I checked the Fire Stick w/ voice remote (which is cool) was on sale for $40. Chromecast doesn’t support prime and amazon and google are at war over it. You can stream Prime over Roku though.
Whoa! I was just on Amazon around 2:30 pm and it was still $35 then. Years ago, their free shipping was pretty good, but in recent years it takes them more than a week to ship. I strongly suspect that they intentionally are slow to ship when free shipping is chosen in order push customers towards Prime service. I once had an order that had items from Amazon and one small item from the marketplace that was shipped from China. The item from China was delivered to my home two days before Amazon shipped the other items.
Amazon keeps trying to shove all its customers into buying its premium prime shipping service——(bad merchandising — best to cater to the customers’ wishes for the goods and services they really want; the ones who want the prime will purchase it of their own free will). BUT Amazon refuses to sell Prime to its millions of regular customers on tablets and smartphones. You have to drive down to the public library or buy your own desktop computer to purchase prime. Why in the world does Amazon do this? It’s nuts
Prime is a no-brainer for me. Free shipping. Lots of discounted items. The streaming alone pays for itself.
I began to use Walmart’s free ship to store option, works well for me
Why would you not want prime? Some stuff comes the same day, plus there is a lot of free streaming stuff. I’ve had prime since it came out.
Amazon shipping has always been the worst for me. Some packages have taken up to 6 weeks for delivery.
Last year, I signed up for the Amazon Prime.
Around Christmas, I order several items. Most did arrive within 3 to 5 days of the order. One item was going to take until early February, so I cancelled it.
I haven’t seen much improvement in their shipping by using Amazon Prime. I do like the streaming, which is the main reason anyway that I subscribed.

I also sent an order to Academy Sports. They split the order into 2 shipments. Both shipments arrived before the shipping info showed up on the shipper’s website.
