Cuba's Ramon Castro, brother to revolutionary Fidel Castro, dies

Havana, Cuba (CNN)Ramon Castro has died at age 91.

The older brother of Fidel, 89, and Raul Castro, 84, knew little renown, as he declined an active role in the struggle that heaved the two, and communism, to power in Cuba in 1959.

Ramon Castro wore a long beard and was at times mistaken for leader Fidel Castro, who was about the same height and stature, but he preferred tilling the earth to stirring armed revolution. He was a farmer like his father Angel Castro.

Fidel Castro exhales cigar smoke during a March 1985 interview at his presidential palace in Havana, Cuba. Click through the gallery to see more photos from his life:

33 photos: Former Cuban leader Fidel Castro Ramon Castro died Tuesday in Havana, state media reported in a short article. It did not name a cause. His body was cremated, and his ashes will be taken to the Castro family farm in Biran.

I’m sure Obama will be there for that funeral. He is sure to pack his kneepads.

A contributing factor in the elder Castro sibling’s death could have been that he received the memo that Obama was coming to Cuba to see how things are going.

The Castros father was an executive with United Fruit, not a humble tiller of the soil.

Yup — that’s the first thing I thought of. What’s he going to do? Could our community agitator rat finally be cornered? If he goes to the Castro funeral without having gone to Scalia’s even his press lapdogs will have to notice (but probably still not report or opine on it)still not make it an issue. If he doesn’t go to the Castro funeral, his comrade in arms, Fidel, will not be pleased... Oh well, he can make it up to Fidel by handing over our naval base at Gitmo...

Kind of reminds me how Hugo Chavez, in a room with generals and official whimpered as he felt death approached 'I don't want to die. Please don't let me die...'

Small wonder...he could not have been looking foward to his next journey:

For a bunch of guys that probably smoked 20 cigars a day they sure live a long time. Funny how most dictators do. Stalin was a heavy smoker and lived into his 70’s.
