Dan Patrick was the guy in the goofy red plaid shirt, standing behind CRuz at CRuz’s NV long-winded *victory* speech. He’s the current Lt Gov of TX....but is on the campaign trail with CRuz. Yep, Patrick seized his opportunity just as the anti-establishment, anti-Rino, anti-incumbent wave was starting to rise up. Being a political outsider outweighed background (although Ted was considered a thoroughbred through and through). Dan Patrick was definitely in the right place at the right time.
