Looks like the perp threw a tantrum because he was served a protection order from abuse, by is ex, while he was at work that day. Then he went home, got his guns and started his shooting spree.

The Sheriff is also calling the Police Chief of Hesston a hero for being first on the scene and going in, taking of fire from the suspect, then the Police Chief took him out. The Sheriff explained there were still at least 200 people in the building and if the Police Chief hadn't taken quit action, there would have been more casualties.
