I thought the job of negotiating those deals was up to the State Department, not individual Senators.
It is a campaign fail, not a Senate fail as you correctly point out that it’s the administrations responsibility for the negotiations, of which the State department is but an appendage to, and the Senate to advise and consent on.
And while a Senator can stand up and declare themselves supporters of Israel with Jerusalem as it’s eternal capitol, a potential negotiator cannot. That is the fail. They fail before they even start. Thinking like a Senator, not like the Nations chief Executive.
