Right. Except when Carson was seriously running, they tore him to shreds. Yeah, they REALLY want him on the ticket.
There is no certainty that the vast majority of Americans of African descent were moved in the least by the fact that Dr. Ben Carson had come out of the hood himself (unlike the Current Occupant), the only thing they would see is that the doctor was some kind of “Uncle Tom”. I guess that was some kind of pejorative, much like the scorn heaped upon Clarence Thomas.
That aside, there ARE personalities that have gotten beyond the skin color thing, and proven themselves to bleed just as read as any other American. Allen West, Alan Keyes, Condoleezza Rice, Walter E Williams, Thomas Sowell , Herman Cain, and even Armstrong Williams may be counted among those Americans of African descent that have actually embraced the promise and the principles of the American ideals.
