That would be the end of the Republican party, especially if the RNC changes rule forty which states only who won eight States can qualify for election in a brokered convention.

As it stands only Cruz or Trump would get eight States, but if the rules get changed to get another candidate in the Republican party is OVER.

Agree.
Difficult to predict what the aftermath would look like.
Probably gives Dems lifetime (at least my lifetime) control of Congress and SCOTUS.

I would go one step farther and say that if the GOPe tries anything to steal the nomination then the GOP must die. Totally, utterly, completely. Enough of the Obama knee pad wearers. May they all die and go to hell.

Rule 40 is so obscure, a controversy over them changing it wouldn’t get much attention at all. The fact that the rule was ever set up in the first place was to keep insurgent candidates from being able to compete. So there should’ve been outrage over the rule existing in the first place. But there wasn’t because of the obscurity.
