PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Nearly 46,000 Pennsylvania Democrats have switched to Republicans since the beginning of the year.
According to Penn Live, some experts attribute the mass exodus to Donald Trump.
There’s even a title for the movement. It’s called “Ditch and Switch” and calls for lifelong Democrats to abandon the party, register Republican, and help ensure Trump’s place in the general election.
Professor of Public Affairs at Franklin and Marshall College, Dr. G. Terry Madonna, tells the paper he has a theory behind the switch.
“With the increase in support in exit polls for Trump among working class, blue-collar Democrats, it is my belief that these are people who fall into that genre,” said Madonna.
The numbers are similar in other states as well.

I’ll take your word for it, but, I’m still not gonna get my hopes up again.
YIPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Talk to me next week, slick.
Trump is unstoppable. Pout all you want, you can’t change that.
When your candidate loses the GOP primaries, what are you going to do next?
Mystery solved. You’ll probably support Bernie/Hillary.
It’s not worth wasting electricity to correct them.
That’s interesting. So, just like Trumpbart, FR’s political zeitgeist depends on who puts up the most cash? It totally fits how Drumpf acquires political influence and affirmation. It’s just a little shocking to see it put so explicitly without the slightest tinge of irony.
Let me put your comment in context: Flick Lives says that Free Republic tolerated a takeover by liberals because they donated.
I don't believe many registered Repubs were voting for Kasich. His support had to come from crossovers, new voters, and "center-left" independents who can't stand Hillary. The GOPe Repubs, of course, voted for Rubio.
Trump, no doubt, got his big boost (about 50,000 more votes than "native son" Romney got in 2012) from independents and new voters. This was quite an achievement - especially considering the competition was much tougher in 2016 than in 2012.
Now I’m confused. I used to think Drumpf cultists had more imagination than that.
That’s really nice. Thank you!
You won’t need a revolt. Once the bribery and tax evasion stuff hits the media it’s all over for Hillary.
She’s already dealing with aggressive questioning. She’s also denied that an investigation is taking place. Once her aides get subpoenas, that excuse goes out the window. Then she’ll be forced to say she can’t comment because of legal issues. That won’t win her votes.
At some point her super delegates are going to uncommitt.
On the other hand, Sanders has been simply policy...No Benghazi, No panty bomber, no cattle futures, no Foster, No Brown....
Then there's the Nixon Trap...where Hillary was reprimanded royally for her submittal on taking down Nixon.
And Bubbs's list of victims and his perjury.
Then there's the Clinton Library...and how they got the land through eminent domain. ;-)
I think 100 girls with long black hair in a blue dress and wearing a beret...would make a great shot at a Hillary rally.
Great. So in effect we will have two Democrats in the general election.
I can hear the bums chanting as they get on the bus,”Where’s my 40 where’s my 40!”
“These guys really like him and you can expect to see them voting for him in November.”
39% of voters in the Michigan Republican primary were not republicans. If what you say is true, don’t you think Trump would be dominating Hillary in the general election polls? I think it is very likely that these are Dems crossing over to get Trump the nomination, and have no intentions of voting for him in November.
And no, not all of the polling results are being fabricated in an attempt to hurt Trump. Whoever runs against Hillary in November is going to have a tough time beating her.

Obviously subtlety is not your long suite; so I’ll just say “I paid for this microphone”. (and some others *cough* did not)
The GOP cannot win PA as long as they allow the Philadelphia vote factories to continue operating. Same with Cleveland, same with Miami.
Yes, I have been disappointed in PA several cycles. Cruz has zero play here, if anyone has a play here its Trump.. If Cruz is the nominee it will back Hillary IMHO.
Can you imagine the tons of Democrats that have watched the Obama spectacle the last 7 years and are itching to leave the party?
