Well since ISIS has been doing that on a daily basis anyway, I don’t think it would be counted against US....especially if the people were free and independent. It seems that western Sunni Iraq should be independent of eastern Shiite Iraq....but all that oil will make the drawing of boundaries a bitch.

And why did Bush/Cheney start that mess in the first place without funding it. They thought we would get the oil and pay for the war that way.
Regarding drawing of boundaries. During the colonial period boundaries were drawn to put enemies in the same countries—divide and rule the goal. This has made a mess of the middle east, east and west Africa among other places. Perhaps the boundaries could be redrawn and an international commission set up for each region and money for resources allocated fairly among the redrawn countries. A whole lot of negotiation, but perhaps less warfare.
