WASHINGTON If his poll numbers hold, Trump will be there six months from now when the Sweet 16 is cut to the Final Four, and he will likely be in the finals.
My prediction, in July of 2015, looks pretty good right now.
Herewith, a second prediction. Republican wailing over his prospective nomination aside, Donald Trump could beat Hillary Clinton like a drum in November.
Indeed, only the fear that Trump can win explains the hysteria in this city. Here is the Washington Post of March 18: As a moral question it is straightforward. The mission of any responsible Republican should be to block a Trump nomination and election.
The Orwellian headline over that editorial: To defend our democracy, the GOP must aim for a brokered convention.
Beautiful. Defending democracy requires Republicans to cancel the democratic decision of the largest voter turnout of any primaries in American history. And this is now a moral imperative for Republicans.
Like the Third World leaders it lectures, the Post celebrates democracy so long as the voters get it right.
Whatever one may think of the Donald, he has exposed not only how far out of touch our political elites are, but how insular is the audience that listens to our media elite.
Understandably, Trumps rivals were hesitant to take him on, seeing the number he did on little Marco, low energy Jeb and Lyin Ted.

Let’s rename the party, as The Phoenix Movement’, fly out of the ashes, freer and stronger than ever before. Some might say “Lazarus Movement” for much the same reasons.
What we have here is a failure to communicate. We the People will be heard. Follow that up with pink slips for the corrupt government leaders.
“Lately, 116 architects and subcontractors of the Bush I and II foreign policy took their own version of the Oxford Oath. They will not vote for, nor serve in a Trump administration.”
Good. I wouldn’t want those asses infecting a Trump administration.
The entire Republican institution must be overthrown and replaced.
Bring in people who have never been in government to run it like a business. Put real security professionals, rather than political appointees in charge of the security apparatus.
Put fighting Generals and Admirals in charge of defense.
Clear it all out.
I second what you said.
What is nobody making a big deal out of the Democrats crooked “Super delegate” scheme?
This is the most UN-democratic, corrupt concoction since parties decided to “let the people vote”.
What is the point of voting if Super delegates are going to pick the Democrat candidate?
Well, despite the view that the U.S. has two Parties:
1. the Insane Clown Posse
2. the Useless Eaters
It is something I can not recall seeing...a situation where the leading Repub candidate is getting more attacks from his own Party than they attack the opposition.
But logical when one realizes that Trump is desired by the people, not the Party bosses...and that the Party bosses have no intention of letting the will of the citizens have priority.
State legislators need to be put on notice - deny the nomination to either Trump or Cruz and the people will take it out on you. Deny either of them and face such a backlash that there is not a single Republican who can consider his seat safe.
The Establishment may be content with a Democrat controlling all three branches of government. But how is State Representative Joe in Ohio’s 69th district going to feel when every voter slams the door in his face?
oops.
What=Why
Only the company here is our country.
Beautifully said.
Eventually, these so called ‘Party Bosses’ will have to be named, shamed and tamed by us, the party members. It can be done. Nowadays, it’s not easy remaining an invisible force for very long. Follow the money, and it will lead you to the problems.
I am calling it a divorce, with cause. Alienation of representation, and political adultery.
> “Donald Trump could beat Hillary Clinton like a drum in November...” [Buchanan]
If I recall correctly, Buchanan once thought he had a chance to win himself. It didn’t turn out that way.
So far in the primaries I just see indications that Trump has the support of a plurality of Republicans (that is, with several candidates running — how he would have done one-on-one with a single candidate from the beginning is another question).
A large percentage of the American people already have an opinion of Trump. From the polls I’ve seen his unfavorable rating is over 50% — in the double digits higher than his favorable — and even worse than Hillary’s. If these were unfamiliar candidates, that wouldn’t be so significant. Because they are better known than most, though, many minds have already been made up.
How Trump could succeed in winning the approval of a majority of the voters in the general election — with the mainstream media going after him even harder than they are now — I don’t know. It seems very unlikely.
Yep. Pat the so-called “Paleo-Conservative” is telling the Neo-Cons where they can stick it.
Oh really? Trump is over 60% in New York. You know what that means? Trump kicks Hillary’s fat butt in November and wins the election, that’s what that means.
The cry-baby GOPe needs to STFU and get in line or get run over.
Really? You think 60% in the GOP primary in a deep blue state like NY means he is going to beat Hillary in that state? What are you smoking?
