#42: Barry Manilow: “It’s a Miracle”

He had started with Bette Midler in the New York gay bathhouse circuit and had made a splash the previous year by taking one of Chopin’s shortest piano pieces and turning it into an eight minute monstrosity, something for which I’ve never forgiven him. He stepped away from power ballads to do something up-tempo, and this was a huge hit. The producer was Ron Dante of the Archies.
