If you think Coke addicts are going to give up their drink you are dreaming. It’s stronger than religion.

It's hard, but it can be done.

It's being done in my house as of this week.

Coca Cola's ... opposition to Georgia's Religious Freedom Bill.
WTH is Coke getting involved in politics at all? Didn't they learn anything from JC Penny's experience?

Apart from, and in addition to, the protest factor it’s one of the most healthy things you can do. About 7 years ago I decided to make a real effort to lose weight and get in shape at 50 years old. I was about 60 pounds overweight. Early in the process someone told me if I wanted to see results I shouldn’t drink anything with more calories than zero. The left me with water, coffee and unsweetened ice tea. I did it and the results were incredible. For me it wasn’t that hard because I like spring water and coffee. The results provided tremendous motivation to stick to things and today I’m probably in the best shape of my life at 57 years old. I pretty much turned into a complete gym rat.

Brother and I quit cold turkey from Diet Coke during a vacation. We used to drink probably a gallon or more a day.

“For me it wasn’t that hard because I like spring water and coffee.”

I gave up all soda pop three years ago. I haven’t had a single one since then. It has had no effect on my weight.

Gave up booze before that. No effect.

Just saying, WRT random fat people you see, it could be that what worked for you did not work for them.

Well, the rest of your diet is significant too and well as how much weight you have to lose. Also, the amount of exercise is important. Giving up just soda is no silver bullet but giving up liquid calories along with a smart diet and exercise plan will produce results.

Ditto that! At my last physical by blood sugar was bit higher than normal.

I've been trying to drop sugar and bad carbs. In doing so I have dropped about 12 pounds and feel great doing so.

Try any of the Beach Body products like P90x or Insanity. That'll keep you hoping!

Why are you drinking that stuff at all?

Switch to diet green tea.

So a soft drink is more important than religious liberty? Is that what you’re saying, AppyPappy? Reminds me of the jock-sniffers who value sports more than the state of the country.

I prefer circuit training with weights - for me it is the best fat burning activity and conditioning exercise there is. It is a very advanced routine and NOT for beginners. Unless you are already in pretty good shape it will just burn you out and you will quit after a week or so. One of the first steps to get back in shape, in addition to diet, is to add some muscle mass to get your metabolism up. Also, it's well established that you can't out-exercise a bad diet. Conditioning is 70% diet and 30% exercise. 6-pack abs are created in the kitchen not the gym.

The greatest piece of body-building equipment ever invented can be had at any hardware store for about $40. The call it a “post hole digger”.

Or tea in general, too. Lots to choose from, white, red, oolong, tisanes. Sour much better than soda!
