It is beyond ridiculous to think this is trump’s doing... If trump were to pull this he would have do so before Iowa.

So you are arguing against conservatism on a conservative website. Got it.

While you wallow in your yearning for [social] conservatism, everyone else has moved on.

Interesting, again, you are arguing against conservatism on a conservative website that, at its very heart, DOES value social conservatism.

When Trump made that explosive announcement Cruz immediately went into hiding.

That's because Trump, knowingly or unknowingly, disintegrated the Cruz campaign plan on DAY 1. The GOP was supposed to be talking about accommodating illegals to get the Hispanic vote and Cruz was going to beat everyone to the punch by crowing about his compassion (remember him handing out "TEDdy Bears" at the border to illegals? Get it, TEDdy Bears?).

Then Trump had go to all populist with "Build a Wall" and "get the illegals out".

And back in the trunk went those Teddy Bears.

just fyi, Cruz can no longer claim a win in Alaska - with Rubio’s delegates reallocated, Trump tied with him, 14-14.

Hard to believe the NE would shoot its entire wad in one article
They are looking for readership and that is why I would expect to an ongoing series ala Tiger Woods

Ted Cruz is the only major candidate in my memory who went into Iowa against the Ethanol Mandate when he knew it would hurt him.

In politics, everything is a calculated move. That one stance means nothing.

I am not arguing against conservatism, actually. I think Russell Kirk's Ten Conservative Principles are a pretty good jumping off point. Unfortunately so-called conservatives have a tendancy towards an orthodox doctrine [see T. Cruz], and thereby ignore many of Kirk's principles, in particular:

Principal 10 - the thinking conservative understands that permanence and change must be recognized and reconciled in a vigorous society.....Change is essential to the body social, the conservative reasons, just as it is essential to the human body. A body that has ceased to renew itself has begun to die. But if that body is to be vigorous, the change must occur in a regular manner, harmonizing with the form and nature of that body; otherwise change produces a monstrous growth, a cancer, which devours its host. The conservative takes care that nothing in a society should ever be wholly old, and that nothing should ever be wholly new. This is the means of the conservation of a nation, quite as it is the means of conservation of a living organism. Just how much change a society requires, and what sort of change, depend upon the circumstances of an age and a nation.

poppycock

Trump is still the boss to tens of thousands of employees worldwide, something Cruz has no comprehension of. And one thing Trump doesn’t do is ‘hide in a tower’ - or behind a government paycheck. Trump was proved right on Belgium, proved right on NATO and proved right on the immigrants to Europe being a stage for ISIS. He has also proved right about Iran and North Korea. Cruz has copied Trump’s foreign policy more times than not, with the exception of a professed love for carpetbombing entire nations, which Trump is not for.

Cruz is starting to sound stalker-ish in his desperation for reporters to concentrate on something besides Rubio’s Revenge

“Ted Cruz is the only major candidate in my memory who went into Iowa against the Ethanol Mandate when he knew it would hurt him.

Also, while an example of bad policy it is a very small issue for most people. Yes, it may hinge upon some great Constitutional issue but the large majority of voters simply do not see that. With 10’s of millions of illegals flooding the country, an unsecured border, millions of jobs being shipped over seas, needing to repeal ObamaCare, and trillions in national debt, Senator Cruz’s stance on ethanol is manifestly unimportant.

If ethanol was the biggest problem the US had, the US would not have many problems.

Ugh. That story keeps evolving. Next week, it’ll be that Cruz himself robocalled everyone in Iowa, telling them that Carson gave his endorsement to Cruz.

Ted Cruz literally lifted a movie line from The American President (and almost screws up the line).

It is a fact that the Cruz camp called every caucus location with the urgent news/lie that Carson was suspending his campaign. For some reason this fact really bothers Cruz supporters.

Cruz had previously used the exact same line in defense of his daughters. To see it in context, search on ‘caroline catherine out of your league.’

The evolution has been on the Cruz supporters side. They at first insisted, militantly, that the Cruz camp only passed along what CNN reported.

Then the voicemails surfaced. The Cruz team had conveyed, in so many words, that Carson was suspending. CNN never reported that. Indeed, CNN reported that Carson was NOT suspending.

Hence, evolution amongst Cruz supporters.
