I have always liked Rush. I haven’t always agreed with him, and I have been disappointed at times.
This was a tough year. I tend to agree with you on at least part of what you said.
He said some good things about Trump but then almost seemed upset with himself that he had, and he tried to make up for it or something.
There were a few weeks recently when I listened to Rush where I did not recognize him form one day to the next. He swung like a pendulum hot and cold for Trump but always up on Cruz. It is like he had no idea who he was. I had never seen Rush like that.
Everyone on this thread should know that Rush has described Trump as a friend and golfing buddy. I think he has been doing a good job of keeping the friendship out of the commentary. He’s been eminently fair with all the candidates throughout the primaries, I think.
People, listen: I like Donald Trump a lot. But he does say some eminently screwy things at times. It’s part of who he is. Rush has made light of some of his more egregious statements, as he has praised or criticized ALL the candidates.
The problem for Rush, of course, is that he has a three-hour daily show. Those of us who listen to the whole thing know he has been very fair throughout this crazy process. People who tune in for a 10-minute segment where he’s praising or criticizing some candidate think that’s the whole of his thinking. The ever-shorter American attention span is not a fit for Rush’s thoughtful, hours-long, stream of consciousness.
From what I remember it was Rush who celebrated Trump when he had first came out declaring to build a wall, etc. that actually had me streaming Trumps speeches after I heard that. Rush also pointed out Trump was everything the repubs ever wanted in a candidate; someone who was able to bring over the blue collars, the blacks, independents, etc. it seems as though after the Chicago riots he started changing his tune a bit. Rush doesn’t want to pick sides because he can see what has happened to Levin, Beck, etc. If Cruz loses how will they ever recover?
