If you mess with Trump, he is going to hit back. If you embarrass his wife, he is going to embarrass your wife. Plain and simple.

He’s got this far using this MO and he is not going to change. What you see is what you get and that can be both offensive and refreshing.

I’m a solid Trump supporter, and I agree. He’s gotta not take the bait any more. The Establishment has finally figured out how to ‘play’ him.

Doesn’t seem to happening in his poll numbers.

Yes, it is happening in his poll numbers. His general election poll numbers are horrible. His primary numbers are fine, because he has a core of supporters who, as he said, would vote for him even if he killed someone.

But in the general election, you only get one vote no matter how dedicated you are. I know a lot of folks who really dislike the guy, but are/were still considering voting for him in the general. This kind of stuff has pushed a few of them over the edge. Unfortunate, because as much as I despite him, I despise Hillary more.

But this crap is just hurting his general election prospects. Anyone not living in an echo chamber knows that.

Ummm, Trump boinked every female he could find, and he bragged about it in his book. If you’re going to be all upset about rumors about Cruz, please also be upset about facts about Trump.

Look, I'm a supporter of Trump. I concede this worked well for a while. It worked well because the Establishment had no idea how to deal with it.

They figured it out. He needs to constantly adapt to a changing battlefield. Any good general does.

The blaming of Trump is a planned scam.
I have no respect whatever for Ted Cruz.

I agree.

I think Cruz got a heads up about the NE story and went after Trump's wife hoping Trump would give them something they could use to blame him for leaking it.

If the media were honest, they would follow the money, the $500,000 to Fiorina's PAC. The media is ignoring everyone that has said the Rubio camp, not the Trump camp, was peddling the Cruz affairs story.

Cruz looked ridiculously weak with ICarly yesterday.

Well, he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and he seems to think he can do or say whatever he pleases with no consequence, and that he is entitled to the GOP nomination even if he fails to reach a majority of delegates. There is something seriously off about Trump’s campaign, IMO. No mature, serious person conducts themselves the way Trump has/is. Maybe he really is just this much of a petulant jerk. Ijust hope that my choices in November are not Trump and Hillary. The thought of it makes me sick. I’ve tried to warm to Trump, but then he goes and does something again that reinforces the reasons why I absolutely cannot stand him.

Trump had it all wrapped up a month ago, but just couldn’t keep his mouth shut.

If he suddenly becomes the “turn the other cheek” candidate, he loses his fighter image and suddenly becomes someone molded by others and not his own man. Thats not a winning strategy for Trump either.

I believe I will sit out this primary. I was for Trump but he refuses to “grow up” and Cruz is just a run of the mill snake oil salesman. Neither one (or any of the GOPe manufactured candidates) will get my vote unless one of them changes their demeanor.

“Unfortunately he just lacks maturity.”

He is using Romney’s playbook. This is how they got rid of Hermann Cain.

Look at the bright side. If Trump gets the nomination and loses to Hillary, I won’t have to worry about losing my guns in all those freak boating accidents.

It's sad, isn't it? I really thought we had a good slate of candidates for this election, but nobody stepped up, and a bunch of them stepped back. It's an absolute embarassment that we have to vote for any of these people if we don't want Hillary or Bernie picking our Supreme Court justices.

I'm hoping to be able to grit my teeth and vote for the eventual GOP nominee in the general election. I may have to drink heavily before doing so, though.

The awful truth for his supporters is, he can't "act more presidential," this IS the man!

You can wash his face and hands, dress him up in thousand dollar shirts, ties and suits but underneath he's still the wise mouth carnival barker for all to see!

These are his tweets and he even doubles down on them for the world to witness.

His legions of supporters cannot desert him because what would that say about their own judgement - so they disregard the unseemly utterances.

Interesting that the man only wants to do radio interviews or rely on his tweets to communicate. I'm beginning to think he is developing some kind of phobia about the comments people make at his facial expressions and mugging before the cameras like an 8 year old.

The pic was a retweet and no big deal.

Newt Gingrich feels differently:

Newt Gingrich was surprisingly critical of Donald Trump, who he seems to have become a yuge supporter of, and his idiotic retweet of an insulting picture of Heidi Cruz, calling it “utterly stupid.”

Newt rightly said that the event showed how unpresidential Trump is and undermined his image as a possible nominee in people’s minds after that absurd insult. He praised Ted Cruz over THIS interview we posted earlier, saying that he looked as good as he’s ever seen him, and that the attack seems to have energized his campaign. Newty then called it a “wake up call” for the Trump campaign that no one of his staff understands. He then CONTINUED to say that the lawsuit Trump threatened was ridiculous. -Right Scoop

It’s a bit different when unnamed sources are simply offering an opinion, rather than being cited to allege some major impropriety.

Leaks about infidelity have sort of been a staple of political campaigns. That, I can tolerate.

The retweeting of that unflattering picture of Cruz's wife though.... Everyone knows what the meaning of that picture was "your wife is ugly and mine's gorgeous." Now, Ted Cruz himself may be a snake, but calling out another man's wife publicly as unattractive/ugly/whatever is just something I've never seen another man say about someone else's spouse in public. I can't really even fathom doing that because it is so deliberately hurtful.

Some other women I've spoken to casually about that are really bothered by it, because it is an implied slight to every woman who is not as good looking at Trump's wife. It's just...no class at all.
