On Tuesday during CNN's town hall, Donald Trump was asked what he thinks are the top three functions of government.
He answered, "[t]he greatest function of all by far is security for our nation. I would also say health care, I would also say education."
Republicans have long tried to limit the federal government's involvement in health care and education.

Trump is a New Yorker. He thinks the rest of the United States is just an extension of the city.
I’m sure you realize that it was ghost written.
I agree with Trump completely on security. I also feel like the federales have no business in the health or education fields.
Wait. Rick Perry is still thinking of that third agency to eliminate.
Reagan’s “three-legged stool” was national defense, strong business climate (by reducing government meddling) and championing social issues. So, Trump got one out of three right.
Thank you. We don’t need those kind of moronic, inflammatory posts.
I believe that the federal es have absolutely no place in education and health. They in fact ruin it, the way I see it.
Any conservative who wants to come in and beat Hillary and get the government out of these entities is welcome to do so. Until then, we’ve got the GOPe run, BTW, now, by that awful Paul Ryan, who makes boehner look like newt
Trump is so unpredictable we’ve got a better chance of his coming to his senses on this than we do of Cruz winning it all and not increasing immigration and whatever else it is that the GOPe donor mafia demands
Because his suckers...
I mean supporters can’t come to grips with the fact that Trump is a lying progressive. I predict they will never wake up. The more egregious Trumps’ tyranny as President the harder his supporters will defend him.
............
What did he state tonight?
Cruzettes all cheer when the pathetic media lies.
Thankfully there are people who still care about the truth.

I'm not advocating obamacare, but I put the above points out there -- we need a strong, conservative nation with strong, healthy, intelligent, well-educated, well-armed people
Better then Cruz any day of the week.
If our country is to survive, trump is it.
And Cruz? What is he now? A fraud for one thing. A GOPe sell out. The idiot who wants to make you believe he has a snowballs chance to win this thing.
You guys honestly believe he’ll win with his newest friends by his side?? He’ll be tossed at the convention if they succeed in denying Trump.
But hey, don’t let reality mess up your fantasy. I’m sure if pigs start to fly and Cruz magically wins, you’re more than ok with no borders and more illegals.
So naive it’s tragic.
“I was for it before I was against it.”
Not directed specifically at you napscoordinator.
I read the CNN transcript. I’ve read all the comments here and elsewhere. So much negativity being spewed. No doubt some of Trump’s answers were flawed to an extent, but it was Trump being Trump. I will say this, Trump is so much more qualified to be POTUS than either BJ Clinton was or BH Obama was, or than HR Clinton is. And his anti-establishment approach is just what America needs, because the establishment Uniparty must be dismantled. Folks, America needs a jolt out of her complacency for idiots running us into the ground and forsaking a bright and prosperous future. Our kids need a wrecking ball in DC. And most importantly, America needs to get control of her immigration policy, enforcement, and the southern border, or nothing else will matter. Let Trump be Trump. And can we all please stop bashing one another. We have got to go fight the Left once this primary is done.
I don’t think Trump has even read the Constitution. He certainly doesn’t have a good grasp of the roles of government.
It seems to me like he gave an answer which essentially encompassed what government does at several levels, not just the federal one.
SO, as long as national defense is in there and as long as the concept of federalism applies, it wasn't such a horrible answer.
Furthermore, we are currently being screwed over by a President who is a Constitutional Scholar, so obviously knowledge of every minutiae of the Constitution certainly is no panacea.
The fact is Chief Executives tend not to focus on minutiae, and being a Constitutional "expert" is by no means a requirement for the office of President. Supreme Court Justice, yes. This is one reason why Presidents have large teams of advisors.
The American People aren't going to be told how to select their President based on phony criteria imposed by the self-appointed gatekeepers who believe they have an inherent right to rule over us and to tell us what criteria are imperative.
The People want a straight-talking,energetic, red-blooded American individual who loves his country, and who isn't afraid to say it's exceptional (because it is), and who isn't going to avoid addressing important issues simply because doing so would involve rejecting the bogus precepts of political correctness.
The DC Establishment of both parties needs to be shaken to its very core, and the "mutual benefit society" cronyism must end. Only then can we all roll up our sleeves and work with the President, Congress, and government at all levels to help Make America Great Again.
All else is Establishment distraction, and a lot of GOP voters are falling for it hook, line, and sinker.
If Donald Trump can instill the passion of that now-Revolutionary message into the hearts of the American People, he will be elected the next President of the United States in a landslide, and all the character assassination, demonization, hatred, and ill-will in the world won't be able to stop him.
And that's something worth fighting for...
And just because he supports "the other guy", otherwise Walker would be touted as the greatest Governor ever in the history of governing.
What lying scum! The left ALWAYS accuses the other guy of what they are doing. The ends justify the means. Trump is 1000% one of them is spirit.
