A vote for Cruz will be GOPe business as usual...

A vote for kasich will be GOPe business as usual...

A vote for Hillary will be the end of the USA as we know it...

A vote for Bernie will be utter stupidity....

Without Trump or Cruz on the ticket, we’d be left with status quo, so what difference would it make?

There is no way it will not be one of those two people. You’d have to get the majority of delegates pledged to both camps to agree to ditch their candidate. Since they wouldn’t be bound to their delegate in such a vote, and in some states the candidates have little say in the delegate selection process, you could conceivably get quite a few... but a majority? Not happening.

Pure fantasy? Mark Levin or Kevin Cuccinelli.
Electability factored in? Mike Lee.
Electability minus the need for a resume? Michelle Malkin. (IOW, she’s not electable because she hasn’t had requisite experience.) Or Prof. George George, mentor to the greats.
Of those that I’ve seen enough in national-campaign mode to make an informed decision (i.e., other candidates)? Scott Walker.

I also could go with Greg Abbot or Ben Sasse.

“’The nominee will be Paul Ryan.’

The president will be Hillary Cli[n]ton.”

Correction: it will be Joe Biden.

Clinton is going down.

George Washington. Hell, we all know the selected candidate from a brokered convention will get wiped out in the general election. Might as well have a little fun with our pick.

Bobby Jindhal comes to mind.

Or we could draft another American Indian, Dinesh D’Souza.

There is no alternative.

By Robert’s Rules of Order, the names of the current contenders (The Donald, Ted Cruz, John Kasich) are entered into nomination by ballot in the various States prior to the Convention. Other nominations may be offered from the floor, or by the Chair. After the first ballot, the top contenders are STILL nominated, but any party so nominated may then choose to withdraw their name from nomination. The pledged delegates may then vote on any of the names remaining in contention.

Actually, there should still be a threshold for runoff selection, say 30% or more of delegate votes in the first ballot, after which the delegates may vote at will for any other choice remaining. Or perhaps the top two in the first ballot, for a simple majority.

Without the rules of order, the convention becomes a farce and serves no useful purpose.

Two out of those five don’t belong there. Not by a long shot.

Agree. I like Trump 1, Cruz 2, but if the GOPe said, “hey, what about an Abbott/West ticket,” that would look very tempting.
