Russia Promises 'Asymmetric' Response To NATO Buildup In East

Russia is preparing an "asymmetric" response to the increase in NATO troop rotation in Eastern Europe, and in particular the United States' military presence near Russian borders, Russia's ambassador to NATO said on March 31.

"Of course, our response will be completely asymmetrical. It will be calibrated to match our ideas about the degree of military threat, to be most efficient and not overly expensive," Alexandr Grushko said on Rossiya-24 television.

"We can see that the U.S. continues to increase its military presence in Europe with an emphasis on the Eastern front... We are not passive observers. We consistently implement all those military measures that are necessary to offset this totally unjustified increased military presence," he said.

Grushko added in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper that Russia views the troop rotation as a violation of a 1990s agreement between Russia and NATO not to deploy additional combat forces in Eastern Europe.

This would be a good time for Cruz to announce he would order production of the abandoned NEUTRON bomb.

It keeps invaders out of the corridor while leaving the countryside undisturbed.

What are those Eastern European countries thinking? Do they still want to be in NATO and the EU and have Muslim invaders forced on them?

Forget the neutron bomb. Too pacifistic IMHO.

My preference would be a modern version of the B-41 on top of a ballistic missile. That is 25 megatons of all American three stage thermonuclear firepower!

Those Moscow bomb shelters cannot be deep enough to avoid that kind of consequence.

What would happen if the United States withdrew its umbrella of protection from Europe?

NATO is a defensive organization. Is Russia looking to attack it, or simply match defenses?

My take is ‘match’ - the current administration broke defacto agreements hammered out under Reagan. The US foreign policy has basically been set by Soros and the Saudis. It does not represent the interests of the American people.

It isn’t like there are any ‘good guys’ anymore..

Translation: they will fund and facilitate the terrorists to infiltrate Western Europe and attack from the inside.

Russia simply regards NATO as an offensive organisation.

Why are we fighting Russia? Why not work with them to help us and Europe? Putin and Russia are not going away—what worked with the old USSR will not work in the new Russia.

I think the reason is that the political decision-makers try to put Russia in a trap, that it’ll unlikely be a trouble in future. This can’t be something Russia (and any other country) would agree to.

Russia has 22 maneuver warfare battalions in its Western Military District. That is more than a match. I believe Obama already removed 3 brigades from Europe earlier. Putting one back now still leaves the tally at -2.
