Is Ted Cruz Still the Anti-Establishment Candidate?
Slate.com ^ | 04/05/2016 | Jim Newell

MADISON, Wisconsin—Ted Cruz has some disappointing news for establishment Republicans, who he still believes perceive him as the ultimate enemy. “This fevered pipe dream of Washington, that at the convention they will parachute in some white knight who will save the Washington establishment: It is nothing less than a pipe dream,” the senator said Monday. “It ain’t gonna happen. If it did, the people would quite rightly revolt.”

It’s interesting that Cruz is still arguing against the establishment. In recent days, after all, heading into the Wisconsin primary, he has taken to bragging about the breadth of his Republican support. He is quite aware that he’s the anti-Trumpers’ last best chance, even if some of those anti-Trumpers don’t like him.

This stuff is laughable. How anyone can fantasize that a sitting senator is an anti-establishment outsider is beyond me.

Cruz worked on the Bush2 campaign, worked for the Bush2 administration, is a sitting senator, has Neil Bush and the entire Jeb finance team in his campaign, has been endorsed by Miss Lindsey, Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, and other establishment figures. Plus, his wife works for Golden Sacks, the CFR and authored a paper promoting the North American Union.

I’d say that Cruz is nothing more than a Stealth Bush.

I have to admit, he had me fooled for awhile.
Not anymore, and anyone who hasn’t been awakened by the arrival of the Bush team can’t see reality.

Well... he's not a Muslim, which many of the establishment insiders are.

I guess it all depends on one's point of view.

Same reason that all the other inbred Washington senators hated him. That’s how ;-)

What I don’t get is how is someone that paid politicians for decades is an outsider. By that logic Valerie Jaret is an outsider because she has never held elected office.

". . . a sitting senator . . ."

From Texas, no less, where anyone who doesn't bow before the majors in the Oil Biddness can't even get on the ballot. Of course, Ted being against ethanol was a "principled stand" and had nothing whatsoever to do with his being from Texas.

Then the term “anti-establishment” is useless, because you’re saying as soon as the most anti-establishment person in the world gets elected to office, he’s now part of the establishment.

Why use the term then? The whole point of any political movement is to get the people you agree with elected to office.

I’ll never vote for Cruz (& his globalist wife) after realizing what low-life’s they are. Cruz thinks we are a bunch of ignorant sheep and we’ll just follow him, AIN’T GOING TO HAPPEN.

If Cruz and the GOP STEAL this election from us, I hope Trump goes third party....it’s now or never. At some point we have to make a stand!

No, sadly. He blew it when he stood on the Senate floor and called the party leader out for being a liar. Nothing screams GOPE like that.

What he should have done is supported McConnell’s re-election. Now that would have been anti-establishment!
