It’s something like 25% of Mexico’s entire economy
++++
You spend way too much time on FR and not enough time on Wikipedia.

Annual Mexico Remitances represent a bit under 1.7% of their GDP.

The government can’t steal someone’s money because they don’t like who they are or suspect but can’t prove they are doing something wrong. This is supposedly a conservative idea?

I have read a lot of comments on Trump's plan to fund the wall. It seems you are the only one concerned that Trump proposes a fascist tactic to fund the wall. I applaud you!

“The white (Spaniard) Mexicans are the elites, and they’re forcing the darker skinned Mestizos to the border. “

Absolutely true!

Good. I want the Wall and EVERY DAMN ILLEGAL to go home... We'll even provide one way tickets to Mexico...

No we do NOT have an obligation to provide cheap labor in completion with American citizens... and/or new brain dead voters for Democrats.

THOSE ARE NOT OUR VALUES.

WE ARE A NATION OF LEGAL IMMIGRANTS. WE ARE NOT A NATION OF CRIMINALS.

“Sucks to be Western Union then. RICO’ s a bitch.”

I don't feel the least bit sorry for Western Union. They've been profiting off of illegal immigration and most likely the illicit drug trade too. But you watch them squeal like stuck pigs if this ever happens.

“This implies that the illegals will be allowed to remain in the US to continue sending money back home.”

So you wouldn’t favor this as a first step toward getting them out of our country? Seems to me that interdicting this flow of money might cause some of them to self-deport because they would have to out themselves as illegals, and it would lead investigators to their employers as well. Better still, have a few Western Union offices “staffed” with border patrol.

Seems to me it implies that anyone sending money to Mexico would have to help pay for the wall.

Slap a 50% tax on any remittances to central or South America.

Be done with it.

Exactly. If not, what incentive would Mexico have to agree to the deal?

This Trump idea is another example of Democrat-like thinking.

As in, people will not change their behavior after we change the law or the rules. Week after week, month after month, they will just keep on sending those remittances to Mexico.

Nope. as soon as the plan were put into effect, the illegals would stop sending their money to Mexico. Therefore, the Trump plan would fall flat on its face.

EPIC FAIL.

So unfair -- they're just here to do the robberies, burglaries, kidnappings, rapes, assaults, and drug deals Americans don't want to do.
