Wisconsin turnout highest in presidential primary since 1972

It was predicted to be huge and historic.

But it was bigger than that.

Wisconsin's turnout rate in Tuesday's presidential primary exceeded the state’s own bullish forecast, topped any Wisconsin primary since 1972, and easily bested that of any state that has voted this year except for New Hampshire.

Nearly 2.1 million Wisconsinites voted, based on unofficial returns.

Essentially, half the people that could vote did vote: roughly 47% of the state’s voting-age population and an estimated 49% of all eligible voting-age citizens.

"That’s unusual," said turnout expert Michael McDonald, for a contest "this late in the presidential election calendar."

This is important. Everyone knows that the candidate is not allowed inside the polls, except to cast his vote in his own precinct, on election day. This is just an another example of Trump flaunting — or not researching — the rules.

There was the usual Wisconsin hinkiness going on.

In my post #5, it looks like 20,000 Democrats dropped off the Democrat side [though the primary was as hotly contested as the 2008 primary], and 25,000 Republicans magically appeared to push Cruz WAY over the top [Cruz, a social conservative, got 25,000 more votes than Romney in 2012 - in a county known for voting for social squishes like Romney and McCain].

>>Trump Could Face Fine for Illegal Electioneering in WI<<

I read on another Thread that the story was debunked.

Trump did not Violate the Electioneering Law. He was over 100 feet away from the Polling Location, but a Competitor’s Supporter said he went inside.

I have no idea why someone who doesn’t like Trump would lie like that, do you?

Haven’t heard of any fraud — just an election violation by Trump, himself. He reportedly entered a polling place during the election which is forbidden by Wisconsin law.

My dream team has always been a Cruz/Walker ticket. It will never happen of course, but man, it was nice seeing them campaigning together.

ANYthing that the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board (GAB) gets involved in will be gotten wrong. There was a modest reform that improved things recently, but didn't go nearly far enough.

I believe the limit in Wisconsin is 100ft for electioneering. It is really up to the election judges to respond to the complaints and keep things under control. It would be foolish to fine or jail a candidate for what is a minor transgression almost certainly done unintentionally and incidentally, and of insignificant consequence, especially something like this that can happen as a result of a poorly placed or knocked over footage sign..
