American B-52 Stratofortress bombers have been sent for their first Middle East operational deployment since the 1991 Gulf War 26 years ago. The aircraft are flying from Qatar to bomb Islamic State targets. An undisclosed number of B-52s have arrived at the Al Udeid Air Base on Sunday, the US Air Force said.
“The B-52 will provide the coalition continued precision and deliver desired airpower effects,” Lt. Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., commander, US Air Forces Central Command said in the statement.
The B-52 is a long-range multi-purpose heavy bomber. The Central Command last used them during Operation Desert Storm against Saddam Hussein’s Iraq, when the aircraft flew sorties from Saudi Arabia.
The deployment is meant to replace a contingent of B-1 Lancer swing-wing bombers which departed the Middle East in January for maintenance and a series of upgrades, the US Army’s Stars and Stripes reported.
"The B-52 demonstrates our continued resolve to apply persistent pressure on Daesh and defend the region in any future contingency," Brown said, referring to Islamic State by its Arabic-language acronym.
The deployment comes shortly after Russia used its long-range Tupolev Tu-22, Tu-95 and Tu-160 bombers to strike terrorist targets in Syria. The Russian aircraft flew from their home bases over the Caspian Sea, Iran and Iraq to reach the Syrian territory.

I’m figuring this is something that bubbled up from underneath the Pentagon, where they’re growing claws and horns, from long isolation.

This is all about optics. I won't be surprised if the ISIS sites they bomb are in Libya. Whatever it takes provide a rationale for keeping the immigrants flooding Europe and even the US.
The fact that the goal entails bombing someone they can say is ISIS is nothing but cover for the end game which is expanding the Izlame Ick state Clinton created in the Balkans.
That'll be the, "solution" to the current turmoil in the EU. A greatly expanded Izlame Ick State on the European continent and it'll be backed up with NATO bombing of anyone who gets in their way just like it was under Clinton.

We will be lucky if they do not sneak under the wire and blow the damn things up. Now that will make some headlines for Obama.
Then we will hear the tRump supporters say, "That was Lying Ted's idea not The Donalds. He would never thought of using such a fuel guzzler, he is a stealthy DEAL maker".
These tRump supporters are so predictable. Kinda like ice melting under a blow torch. One minute they are in this form and the next, POOOOOF, vapor.
In addition to hauling lots of bombs — which it usually parcels out sparingly — the B-52 has tremendous endurance and loiter time and is cheap to fly. I suspect that the Air Force also wants to build the case for new engines, a service life extension, and a new avionics and targeting suite that will keep the ‘52 flying for decades more.
