Ronald Reagan famously said that the nine most terrifying words in the English language are: “I'm from the Government, and I'm here to help.” As Obamacare has demonstrated all too clearly, any such declaration from a federal official is indeed cause for alarm. Nearly as scary for conservatives is the word, bipartisan, when uttered by a Republican candidate for office or one of his close advisers. This is why conservatives of all stripes should be unnerved that Sam Clovis, chief policy adviser to Donald Trump, told the New York Times last Friday that any replacement for Obamacare “must be bipartisan.”
“Bipartisan,” when used by a GOP candidate, is usually a signal to the Democrats that many of his ostensible principles are negotiable. It is particularly worrisome when deployed by an adviser to Trump, who has been on all sides of the health care debate, depending on the political exigencies of the moment. “The Donald” has, of course, often lavished praise on the government-run health care systems of countries like Canada and Scotland yet now pledges to replace Obamacare with a bilious admixture of its worst elements and even dumber proposals long advocated by the Democrats.
In other words, because it contains a wide variety of bad Democrat ideas, Trump’s plan is already “bipartisan.” Thus, when we find one of his closest advisers throwing this term around during an interview with the Times, one can’t help but wonder what else the Donald will give away in the unlikely event that he wins the presidency. Compounding the queasy feeling induced by that question is the reality that Clovis himself apparently has rather flexible principles. Before he joined the Trump campaign last summer, he was one of the real estate magnate’s most frequent and vociferous critics.

Trump is probably socially liberal. He does not ware his liberal side on his sleeve as some do. Meanwhile he promotes the US, was the first one to raise the immigration issues, wants more pro US trade deals to balance out those which are bad, he is not a lawyer, which is a good thing, and he wants to get things done.
So on one side we have a guy who is willing to talk and make win win deals verses one guy who is the equal of standing on a bridge, waiving his arms in the air, and saying I will not budge. I'd be in with the guy on the bridge if he followed that up with it is time for a new system of government but he will not. So being intransigent and adamant on issues is a loser, just like him.
Killing the mandates needs to be the first predicate; open markets across state lines the next day and see how the market shakes out.
I guess that'll be his justification when he reneges.

Yep, looks like Trump will be just one more “reach across the aisle” Republican type. I thought we were furious and done with so-called conservative Republicans like Boehner and McConnell, and apparently Trump, who think the democrats can be reasoned with, and we can come out of any negotiation with them as winners. No, as Rush says, we have to DEFEAT the dems.

Funny, last time I put out an ad for a few hours of crappy, unpleasant work at $10/hour I got well over a hundred responses, most from adults, many of whom had children to support.

I know someone who makes the same complaint. He’s totally clueless that people flee from jobs he offers because he is incredibly unpleasant to deal with and blames it on other people not wanting to work.
Not saying the same is true in your case, but your stories are nearly identical.
There is a simpler and totally rational practical solution, and it doesn't slavishly stumble into the private system trap. There, the special interest crony criminal element is inescapable. And it must always fail, human nature being inescapable.
And it is defective regardless of whether it's public or private.
Educating ourselves is not that difficult.
