“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.” -Jesus, Matthew 5:38-42
Great minds think alike. LOL
Well that’s all fine and good, however the Bible says we are all sinners who have fallen short of the Glory of God, so we might aspire to the standards established by, and taught by Jesus, but nobody is going to actually achieve them.
My late Grandfather said to “turn the other cheek” too, but he also said “you’ve only got four cheeks to turn, and after you’ve turned all of them, grab the sonuvabitch by the neck and kick his ass!”
Matthew 21: 12And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves. 13And He said to them, "It is written, 'MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER'; but you are making it a ROBBERS' DEN."
Not exactly "turning the other cheek".
That “turn the other cheek” business may work well on the spiritual plane, but in politics/governance, not so much. We all saw how well it worked when “W” turned the other cheek time and time again.
