Trump's a smart businessman, but the market has a mind of its own and is nothing more than the present value (roughly) of expectations of the future performance. The future performance right now depends on who we elect as President.
And as to corrections, 2016 has been one BIG correction so far.
What I think Trump is saying is if we don't fix America's problems, including taxes, entitlements, debt, spending, trade, etc., there will come a day of financial retribution.
And he would be right.
Cruz on the other hand is once again following Trump with his own little me too.
