The population declines in cities in upstate NY are astounding.

Cities like Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Utica have seen their populations halved in the last fifty years.

It is getting hard for the career politicians to hide the failures of their policies. They have made promises for fifty years—and all that has happened is things get worse and worse in upstate New York.

Exactly - see my post #22. Forget the democrats; they have ruined upstate and will continue if allowed. Cruz will have no clue either.

I spent a week in Buffalo. I can see why people leave. The people are nice, but it astonished me how often people thought I hated black people, flew the Confederate flag, etc. They were surprised I was visiting museums and art galleries and was conversant with culture. It got tiresome.

Very, very liberal and with a very narrow view of the world.

All those manufacturing jobs just didn’t go somewhere else, the damn liberals drove them away.

Electing another liberal in conservative camo will not change that scenario.

You’re right. What used to be a thriving string of cities in upper New York State has turned into areas of devastation.

If you drive from Plattsburgh west toward Syracuse the poverty is incredible. Some towns have contracted to have huge wind farms to try to stave off bankruptcy. Alcoa just shut down its last remaining plant in Massena. The only thing keeping the area afloat is the Indian drug trade.

The suburbs opened up...and people had cars. Why stay in the city?
