Remember when George W Bush was president the Chinese forced a spy plane of ours to land in China and I think a Chicom pilot got close to that bird and crashed. So this happens more times under many presidents than we think.

Doesn't match any real attack profile---merely intimidation with a showboat close pass for attention. A real two aircraft shipping attack would be an on the deck, under the radar, launch just short of the visible horizon. Multiple inbound profiles simultaneously detected 15 to 20 seconds at best before closure with your position.

Layered defenses allow probably two, optimistically three counters within ten seconds, given an alert crew and a timely weapons hot authorization. Medium range, then short range counter missiles, and point blank with sea-whiz.
