Of equal concern - what will the requirements be to become a naturalized Texan? My feet don't like western boots (though I'm okay on the pickup truck and firearms qualifiers). ;-)

Find some that fit right. Give yourself time to break them in. They’ll become as comfortable as wearing a glove. That’s most likely the problem.
The high boots also help protect from snake bites.
