Great-great grandfather fought on the Confederate side in
the Battle of Shiloh. He had ZERO slaves. - I think my
sixth great grandparents had a few slaves down in the
Georgia Territory a looooooong time ago.

Had relatives on both sides of the War of Northern Aggression.
The West (by GOD) Virginia side of the family were dirt farmers and wore blue, they owned NO SLAVES.
The Virginia piedmont side of the family were sharecroppers and wore grey, they owned NO SLAVES.
The family members who wore grey were fighting for their RIGHT to be left alone by an oppressive government.
The ones who wore blue were fighting to preserve the Union, at least that is what they were told.
