Unworthy of those who claim to be Conservative? Trump is no Conservative, so don’t try and claim that mantle for him or his supporters.

Who said anything about Trump? I’m writing about the behavior of those who, in support of Cruz, claim that mantle for him and themselves.

Their actions during this campaign, whether they were against Carson, Rubio, Kasich, or Trump, are the very oligarchic, party-centric, anti-republican (small r) behavior both the Trump and Cruz campaigns started out opposing.

Similarly, the people cheering this behavior on here and elsewhere concern me. “The ends justify the means”, or in newspeak, #nevertrump, is doublethink if you simultaneously claim to be standing on principle.

‘When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’ Today, apparently, “Conservative” means to use the minutiae of party rules in defiance of the people, both in open and closed primaries, and to claim to be anti-GOP-establishment while incorporating the GOP-Establishment into one’s campaign and into the campaign’s funding stream.

That doesn’t say ‘conservative’ to me. It doesn’t say ‘liberal’ either. It says ‘doublespeak’ and ‘oligarchy’ to me, or in the FR jargon, Uniparty.
