California Poll: Trump Winning State and Holds Strong Primary Leads In All Regional Districts
Capitol Weekly ^ | 04/21/2016 | JONATHAN BROWN

Perhaps all attention on primary night in California should be on the 33rd Congressional District – home to the Trump National Golf Club. After all, in New York, the only Congressional District that Donald Trump didn’t win was the one in which he lives.

Trump is likely to do well in California, too.

Our California poll of 1,165 high propensity Republican voters has Trump currently atop the leader board by a comfortable margin. In the survey, conducted April 11 through April 14, Trump receives 41% of the vote, to Ted Cruz’s 23% and John Kasich’s 21%. A separate sample of 466 Republicans registered since the turn of the New Year has Trump ahead 53%-21%-15%, indicating that Trump’s overall lead among the expected turnout is a few points greater.

In each region, Trump leads. His strongest support is in the Inland Empire (Congressional Districts 8, 31, 35, 36, 41), Los Angeles County, and Northern California (Districts 1, 2, 3, 4). Ted Cruz’s best opportunity is in the Central Valley (Districts 9, 10, 16, 21, 22, 23) where he trails Trump only by seven points and gets his biggest vote (28%). The Central Coast (Districts 20, 24, 26) give the best shot to Kasich, where he is only five points back. While Cruz is in second overall, Kasich is stronger in more urban areas just as he was in New York. The Ohio Governor is in second in the Bay Area, LA County and San Diego County.

No, they just move further away from cities, up into the hills.

I only had Trump for 140 delegates. If he gets all 172, he gets to 1300 easy.

so even if he loses all eight of those districts, he still pulls in 148 delegates. Looks like Cali is going to deliver the knockout punch that the mathematically eliminated canadian wont be able to recover from!

I have him at 1,250 with just 100 in CA.

Dont forget he’ll get some from WA and OR.

And a new poll has him up by 6 in Indiana.

Cruz is in his death throes.

We live in California and my wife heard on the radio last night, that in the Bay area there is so much registration switch from dimoKKKRAT to Republican so they can vote for Trump that the offices are swamped.

And it looks like he is going to win much bigger in PA than thought.

By time the CA primary comes around, Trump will win with over 50 percent.

"Look, Mr. Priebus, it's getting harder and harder to defend Cruz on Free Republic! Those paychecks you're sending aren't cutting it! Now, me and my friends want some kind of a raise, or you can take your 'suggested posts' and shove 'em up your...hello?"

Cruz is in his death throes.

With this poll and the one in Indiana, it appears that the race is over in all but name. Trump already has a 300 delegate lead, and Cruz is mathematically unable to win on the first ballot. Trump will win BIG next Tuesday, and momentum will swing even further to Trump’s side then. Indiana’s poll was taken partially before the NY results, and partially afterwards - which means that Indiana will likely vote for Trump by even more of a margin than the 6% the poll is showing now.

Frankly, Cruz should take his own advice to Kasich, and get out because he can’t win on the first ballot. He should have enough dignity, and enough sense, to not put himself and everyone else through this. Cruz should be instructed by Nixon’s history - he lost in 1960 and 1962 (CA governor’s race), but did so with dignity. He went on to be a vast help to Republican candidates in 1966, and thus set the table for his winning of the nomination in 1968. Cruz is young, and needs to look beyond this particular election cycle.

Please, Senator Cruz, withdraw from the race after this coming Tuesday. Continuing to fight only helps the Democrats and hurts your own chances in the future - and I contributed to your campaign and have admired you since before you ran for Senator.
