Letter to the editor: Students for Justice in Palestine respond to a previous op-ed

To the editor:

In an op-ed published last week, “Uncomfortable on my own campus,” Nov. 18, Carly Korman wrote of her dismay that Students for Justice in Palestine was included in last week’s powerful Million Student March. We feel the need to correct some glaring inaccuracies in her piece that misrepresent and slander our group.

She stated that, “the overall goal of (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) is to eliminate Israel as the state of the Jewish people.” This is incorrect. In 2005, Palestinian civil society – including over 170 Palestinian organizations – issued a global call to people of conscience to boycott, divest from and sanction Israel for its myriad human rights abuses. The call for BDS outlines three specific demands of Israel:

End its occupation and colonization of all Arab lands occupied in June 1967 and dismantle the Apartheid Wall. Recognize the fundamental rights of the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality. Respect, protect and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties as stipulated in UN Resolution 194.

As can be seen, neither BDS nor SJP call for the destruction of Israel.

She also claimed that BDS targets her as a pro-Israel individual. Again, this is not the case. BDS targets institutions that perpetuate the occupation and oppression of Palestinians, not individuals. For example, we are currently campaigning for the removal of Sabra products from campus retail stores. Sabra is a company that invests in and supports the Golani Brigade of the Israel Defense Forces, whose human rights abuses have been extensively documented and include arbitrary murders, evictions and arrests of children.

Our enthusiastic participation in the Million Student March is a result of our long-standing solidarity with all struggles for justice. We look forward to continuing our work for human rights and equality for all.

Signed,

UMass Amherst Students for Justice in Palestine

“Recognize the fundamental rights of the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality.”

All Israeli citizens vote regardless of religion or ethnicity.

“Respect, protect and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes”

This would be the end Israel. If a country doesn’t have the legal right to control its borders it’s not a country.

Human rights is a concept foreign to those who target innocent children with missiles while using other innocent children as human shields. But to help those who do to understand the concept...fighting back against those who do is not a violation of it.

We've stated over and over that the goal of BDS is not to eliminate the Jews, we only want to take their land, infiltrate their country, and prevent them from being able to cloth, feed and house themselves. No where is 'eliminate' written those words. If that's what happens, we can't be held responsible.

Justice in “palestine” (sic) will begin when the Moslem squatters stop preaching (and practicing) the mass=murder of innocent Jews and Christians...... and move back to their own countries (Syria, Egypt, Arabia, Iraq, Jordan..).

And that definitely includes the Moslem “students” and others who’ve infiltrated our college campuses and nation.

Justice begins when you live in your own countries and stop trying to squat in and take over everyone else’s. Just saying... stop mouthing lies, instead live truth.

“Respect, protect and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes”

The “Right of Return” (as they label it) would result in about 10M+ Arabs emigrating to Israel. They would claim to be descendants of the original Palestinians, but most of them would be lying.

And, yes, it would be the end of Israel as a Jewish state. Within 5 years, Israel would be Juderiden.

occupation and colonization of all Arab lands occupied in June 1967

Hmmmmm. As I recall, those lands were "occupied" and "colonized" as a result of an epically failed attempt by Arab war-mongers to obliterate Israel. When the former got their hairy asses handed to them, Israel kept part of the territory they aggressors had used to stage their massive military buildup.

In wars, it's not considered unusual for the victor to claim part of the loser's territory. In this case, the territory claimed was only a small piece of what Israel COULD have claimed after it drove the Arab pussies all the way back to the Nile and Damascus. It should also be noted that Israel was not the aggressor, nor did it seek to expand its borders by conquest. The losers LOST the West Bank, Golan, and the Sinai; Israel didn't WIN them.

Wouldn’t justice in palestine mean expulsion of the pallies and Israel destroying the dome on the rock, among other great things?

That's what I thought.

The Arabs LOST and lost badly.

There are no "do-overs" in war.

And when you LOSE a war, that take some serious chutzpah to demand terms on the winners.

Cam Newton: "Yes, we were down by two touchdowns at the end of the Superbowl. But we don't like that. So we demand that the Broncos defense sit on the sidelines, so we can have back some of our yardage that was unfairly taken from us."
