Its not bizzaro world - its all part of a proxy war chess-match aimed to take one of Russia’s long-term pawns in the mid-east, Syria.
If successful, into that vacuum would step Saudi Arabia, Turkey, (USA allies), the USA and its influence. Taking out Syria would punch Putin in the nose, make him look bad, and depending on how much you believe about oil-politics and the petrodollar, it would open up other supply routes of natural gas to Europe - which would also seriously hurt Russia in the long run.
If you think playing this “Game of Thrones” stuff with our Wahhabi/Sunni “friends” will turn out all right, then Kerry’s propaganda becomes acceptable.

All you said is true - and if al-Qaeda and ISIS are our allies/proxies by default that means our foreign policy is evil and unworthy of support.
